Just monkeying around a bit with some fruit pits. As far as I can find out carving peach and plum pits goes way back. I know that Great Grandpa did it . That puts it into period anyway.

Very nice workmanship. Do you sell these?

Never thought about selling them. I usually give them to kids or whoever. Just a fun whittler's trick like doing chains or a ball in a cage.

Traditional carvers of netsuke often used fruit pits, too.
These are nice.

Avocado pits can be carved when they are fresh, They shrink & harden as they dry.

I've done avocado pits. Very soft when fresh, you can carve them with an xacto blade. Are the peach pits soft as well? Did you use hand tools or dremel?

Even fresh peach pits are quite hard. I usually drill through where I need to with a power drill and finish with hand tools. Gotta try avocado pits!

I've been doing these for years. They really aren't that difficult. I would rate them easier than a chain or ball in cage.
