The list of places you feel the need to go to some day, that you haven't been to. I admit I am somewhat spoiled when it comes to travel, my family has taken me many amazing places on no expense to me over the first two decades of my life, but here's (part of) my list.
Israel-
Largely for religious and historical reasons. I feel it would be an amazing, potentially life-changing experience, to visit the great religious sites, and to walk the same streets as... well you get the idea.
Prague, Vienna, Budapest, and Central Europe in general-
This part of the world (the Czech Republic and Slovakia in particular) is my ancestral homeland, and yet I know so little about it. I have also been told that Prague is a very beautiful city.
Alaska-
I have heard much of the natural beauty of this state, and I would like to come see it for myself before it melts away.

Well, I've only set foot in a little over two dozen countries scattered over 4 continents. Suffice to say there's still a lot left unseen..

WELL, since i love history and plan to be a future historian, i hope that i will finally find my way to Egypt. imagine trekking through egypt in steampunk gear...... it would be like an image from the past. but seriously, Egypt's History is amazing. Really great, i might have to wait till all the bombings and riots are over though... damn. i love Paris, i've been twice and its amazing, everything is just so old, classy and beautiful! you NEED to go to Paris! ummmm, what else....? i'd love to go and catch the trans-siberian express across Russia, that would be Awesome!

To be honest, I've got four provinces and three territories I really should visit before I even think about foreign lands.

My list of Places to Visit is HUGE, but here are some excerpts:
-watch the sun rise in Macchu Picchu -watch the Aurora Borealis in Lapland -South-Korea -The entirety of the United Kingdom and Ireland -Hokkaido -Italy -Egypt
In my only 22 years of existence, I`ve not seen all that much yet, hence the huge list. I`ve so far only been to Germany, France, Denmark, London (and Stonehenge, and I`ve seen the cliffs of Dover), and through half of Japan.

CaptainMurra, Archaeology is more the thing if you want to specialise in Egypt. A BA in Archaeology will set you well on the road, and if you do a really, really good Honours year you may be able to squeak past an MA altogether and go straight for the PhD!

yes i suppose i should've done that. I thought about it for a while and then found out i'd be more comfortable (i suppose?) sitting in the back room of a museum making exhibitions and cleaning artifacts.
i intend to do a Postgraduate of Museum studies when i finish my BA

Its more a case of where to re-visit, mostly for underground exploration:
Peru, Tunisia, France, Australia, to name but 4 countries I'd go back to!
Canada interests me, but I'll pass on the United States (sorry my colonial friends), North Africa in general, the Middle East (avoiding those jumped up monied gulf states), Papua New Guinea is quite near the top of the list, as is Northern Scandinavia, and Mother Russia.
The more remote, away from "typical touristicas" the better in general reely!

My list of places to visit is also quite large; because I've not done a great deal of traveling yet.
So far I've only been to England (21 years so far!), Wales (every childhood summer), Scotland, France, Spain and Germany.
The top place on my list is Ireland because that is where my the parts of my family that aren't Welsh are from. I am going to Dublin this year with my Mum and really looking forward to it. But I'd still like to go to Clonmel where my dad's family are from, and visit the Giant's Causeway at some point.
After that the next must see place on my list is Rome because I'm an archaeologist and just generally a history and art lover. Hoping to go with my boyfriend at some point, because he'll be as happy as me to visit museums and is strangely tolerant of the fact I have to visit cemeteries wherever I go (You know you're lucky when after only 2 months, on your first holiday together you spend a week doing research in Pere Lachaise, frequently in the rain and he still loves you. You know he's the one when your planning a holiday for HIS birthday and he says 'Are there any graveyards you want to visit?').
After that the list gets a bit fuzzy in order and basically expands to cover Europe. All of it, especially the old bits. I want to take a year out of real life at some point and travel around Europe. Maybe if I make it as an academic, I'll be able to call this a sabbatical or even 'research' =P All I know is at some point it'll include a trip to somewhere far North enough to see the Aurora and a trip to Istanbul to see Hagia Sophia before the next earthquake (I know it's been surviving them for centuries but with my luck it'll collapse the day before I visit).
I really want to visit Egypt, because of my life long obsession with all things Ancient Egyptian but I am now resigned to the fact that it may be a long time before I can.
I also want to visit Japan, America, Canada and many other places but this post is already turning into an essay!
TL;DR version: Suffice to say I want to see as much of the planet as I can before I die because human cultures and the natural world are fascinating.

There's always a back door to every speciality, & if you include some Anch Egypt subjects in your GD, then you should have a pretty good head start.

Sydney Uni, i'm starting this year. I probably should've gone to Maquarie, but i was talking to an archaeologist who has a PHD (can't remember what though) who lives near me and he was like "sydney, because it has the reputation. just go to syduni." and considering i couldn't make the ATAR/UAI points for AHistory Honours at MQ, i just went for syd.
its only an arts course, though, so depending on what i do next will depend where i go. i was actually considering going to UNE, funny that

I've always had a hankering to start at the Ganges, through the Hindu Kush, Afghanistan, Persia, Damascus, the Holy Lands, the Nile, to Carthage...
Unfortunately, the only way to go to most of that arc these days is in company with other armed chaps, not as I'd prefer, as a solo adventure...
In hindsight, I might be some kind of geopolitical jinx.

Lots of them fell down after the big earthquake. You should see what it did to the railway lines!

Aye that might be the one - just reading the particular bit of family history - and it would appear that its the family homestead!

I lived in England for thirty years but only ever made two trips to mainland Europe; one to Amsterdam which was beautiful and fascinating, and one to Norway, which was also beautiful and fascinating but in a different way. Went as far north as the Lofoten Islands though, north of the Arctic Circle. The Trondheim to Bodo line must be one of the few places on the planet where you can cross the Arctic Circle by train.
Since moving to Canada I've travelled to most of the provinces and all the territories, including a winter on a drilling rig at North Buckingham Island, north from Hudson's Bay and about 500km. from the geographic North Pole. Total, 24-hour darkness for the first three months.... I've also been to both coasts of the U.S. and to Arizona, including a train trip to the Grand Canyon. I'd seen all the films and photographs, but nothing quite prepares you for the real thing..... Recently I've been spending a lot of time in Mexico; mostly on the West Coast but also a couple of trips to Yucatan. Oh yes, and a trip to Belgium (family stuff), which included Eurostar from Brussels to London via the Channel Tunnel, thus clipping across a small corner of France.
Where I'd like to go next includes most of the rest of Europe, especially Switzerland and Spain, and perhaps New Zealand, but neither Asia, Africa nor South America do anything for me; but most of the places I'd like to go, don't exist, unfortunately. Lyonesse, Tir n'a nOg, Atlantis, Hy Brasil, the Isle of Sodor......
Athanor.
