The Airship Association hired a new press officer back in september. An Australian woman who studied commerce at university and worked for Goldman Sachs. Not that interesting in itself. However the woman's name is Anna von Zeppelin and she is actually the great-grand daughter of Graf von Zeppelin. I just found that amusing.

It must be really cool to have a recognisably famous surname that prompts people to humourously ask 'oh..any relation?' when they hear it and then watch their face when you say 'Actually yes! He was my (insert relationship)'

My former partner of some 7 years had the surname 'Crisp'. People were always asking her jokingly  'Any relation to Quentin?' To which she would always say 'I'm afraid not'. Til one day when she told her ancient aunt that  she was often asked this and her aunt said "Yes you are..he's a third or fourth cousin to your grandfather!". Admittedly he was a distant relation but definitely the same family.

Also I think it's just really cool to have a 'Von' or a 'Van' or Van Der' as part of your family name.

This isn't the thread about a certain bodypart of me, my wife always refers to?  Embarrassed

Atterton, not that I didn't trust you, but I checked. The website from the Airship Association has the name Anna von Zeppelin. Not shure about the actual relation to Graf von Zeppelin. It didn't say she was/wasn't. I googled her picture. She does look a bit like her great-grand father, without the moustache, with the hair.  Wink

Yes unless it is that of a movie character...... then you get quotes from the movies.... after the third time...... well lets just say..... it gets mundane.....
I suppose if my last name was Moriarty I could kill them and get away with it as part of some grand scheme....... but mine would have to be one of the good guys...
