" Join us for a sensational weekend filled with the sights and sounds of steam. This weekend will celebrate the vintage spirit of Leicester and offers the chance to see steam engines, locos, the museum’s collection of classic vehicles, a myriad of collectables along with live music, craft stalls and the chance to ride on the museums very own Lenny the Loco. Visitors are encouraged to join in the fun by wearing 20th century costume from Edwardian to Hippie and joining in the costume parade at 2.30pm.
Throughout the weekend the four mighty beam engines will be operated in turn, culminating in a spectacular sight at 3.30pm, when three of the engines will be working in steam together. This is the only place in Europe, and possibly the world, where such a wonder can be seen. The LMTA café will be open all day serving refreshing cuppas and the best homemade cake in Leicester! "We'd be more than happy if people in Steampunk attire came down on the day and joined in the festivities and parade.
