From their web site:

Quote
About AnachroCon

AnachroCon is a celebration of history both real and imagined. It is a place where those who have a love for yesterday’s future mix and mingle with those who chronicle the past and present.

AnachroCon is a home for Steampunks, Neo-Victorians, Retro-Futurists, Historical Re-enactors, Time Travelers, and general students of history, as well as those wishing to explore these areas.

We are dedicated to the principle of providing a safe social environment for the free exchange of ideas. We gather to interact, share, dance, and explore the possibilities of all things historical, alternately historical and fictional. We also strive to hold ourselves to the highest standards of decorum and education.

AnachroCon is, and shall remain, a convention at which the possibilities are limited only by your imagination.

Cheers!

This is a PBS Atlanta segment on Steampunk at Anachrocon from last year.  Nice piece.

Well unless something major changes with my schedule that weekend, I probably won't be able to attend...Friday I have to wait for kids to get home from school, etc.. And Saturday just happens to be the Cub Scout Blue and Gold dinner, and I can't miss that.. Too bad, it would be fun..

We will be doing a couple of panels and generally 'Being Splendid'.

Do come and say Hi.

You know, I have strange feeling we'll all attend, see each other, and not even realize it because we won't recognize each other (I'm thinking of wearing a big sticker that says "I'm a Brass Goggles Forum Member").

No need.  Just look for people wearing one of Herr Doktor's brass goggles rings.   Cheesy

Lady Elsie and I are already in Georgia and are looking forward to this immensely. We are currently guests of the delightful Ms Wilhelmina Frame and will doubtless be in her company at Anachrocon.

We will be wearing Brassgoggles Rings.

We are also doing some of the panels
International Steampunk
Tea Duelling. (Please come and compete in the first ever US competition.)
So you want to be a living historian
I will also be on the Roman art of war panel.

We would be delighted if anyone would be kind enough to introduce themselves to us after one of these. (If you know where we are then just home in on the English accents Grin

Welcome to the area!  I hope to meet both of you next weekend.

I hadn't noticed the tea dueling panel, but admit I'm now intrigued.

I hope you enjoy your stay this week.  Aside from the incoming rain later today and tonight, it appears that the weather will be fairly mild during the time of your visit.  Hopefully Mme. Frame will be able to direct you to some of the places worth visiting while you're here.

Hmmm.  Sunday at 11:00.  Seems to be a conflict with the Atlantis track.  So many tracks, so little time!  Gotta prioritize.

I have to admit, though, that Con Sociology 101 on Friday is tempting.  I pretty much define "introvert".

Though I have a bowler and a top hat, both are costume-store quality and I'd prefer something nicer for Anachrocon.

I stopped at the Museum Replica store to check out their selection.  They have quite a few nice Scala hats, but the only sizes available are large and x-large.  My noggin is on the small side of small, so I was out of luck, as much as I wanted the Deadman topper on display.  They didn't have any of the replica pistols I was interested in taking a look at either, so the trip up to Buford was a bust.   Sad

The route back home leads me near a Salvation Army store that's been good for items to be punked up a bit.  Glancing to my left I noticed a Party City and, better yet, Eddie's Trick Shop.  The Party City didn't have anything useful, but Eddie's turned out to have a decent selection of hats.  They're far from being Scala quality, but I found a coachman's hat that's nicer than pressed felt or cheap satin.  When the guy in the shop was ringing up the sale he asked if I planned to use the hat for a play.  I responded that I was going to use it for Anachrocon, and he was nice enough to offer me the Dragon*Con 10% discount since the purchase was for a con.  Apparently they offer the discount for costuming for Dragon*Con throughout the year.  I was unaware of the discount, but plan to take advantage in the future.

Still working on adjusting down the size of the hat, but at least it doesn't fall over my ears.  Hopefully this little bit of information will come in handy for others in the area needing some last minute bits & pieces for the weekend.

The list of programming tracks on the website is provided by type, but not by day and time, so it's been difficult for me to figure out how to plan my days.  In an attempt to help me see a chronological listing of events I've created a spreadsheet based on the posted track listings and have sorted it by day/time.  It's *really* helped me to plan my time.

I don't know if it will be of use to anyone else, but I figured it couldn't hurt to post it online.  Here's a link if anyone thinks it may be useful:

Edit: Cleaned up some formatting and typos on the spreadsheet, and bracketed it for easier comparison of event times

Thank you so much for coming, and also for hosting the tea dueling event.

Wish I had more time to speak to you both.  You helped make the event more memorable.

I had a fantastic time as well.  Lots of great maker panels and music, and I was quite pleasantly surprised to take 2nd in the costume contest!

Sounds as if fun was had by all. Did anyone perhaps remember to take a photo or two?  If so do please share once you've had a few days to recover.
