One of my zeppelins will probably be named Montgolfier. The other will be a gunship, decked out from bow to stern with harpoons, cannons, flamethrowers, bomb-slingers, and that cow catapult from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It shall be called The Second Amendment.
LOL. This is my favorite so far.

If I could have my own dirigible, it carry the name of a starship I wrote about, the "Ion Butterfly".

Something appropriately grandiose. An adjective, perhaps. The Valiant, or the Exalted, something like that. For those with less time and/or inclination to spend hours musing over what to call their brainchild, though, there's a ship name generator kickin' around the Web that could save some time. Sometimes the results are a little... different, but that's randomization for you.

Or perhaps, in the vein of Iain Banks's ship names, something like Don't Mind Me, I'm Just Passing Through.
Oh ho ho! much frivolity to be had with that concept Straight rips could include No More Mister Niceguy or the sister ships I Blame My Mother and I Blame His Mother. For something original perhaps The Gravity of Your Situation... On an historic note, why not The Eckener? His name has never been honoured thus. What if we (ed.) do have a personal zeppelin?
Are you making a proposal sir, or speaking as royalty? I am a gentleman of means, and would consider "grubstaking" as it were a sum of money towards a private syndicate for such a venture. Do not mistake the seriousness of my intent. We can argue about ship names later!

I think that is the best one so far. On the not-funny side. It really sounds like the description of a Zeppelin.

(I'd like to see him in the FFXII Dr Cid's outfit, though...)

If I could have my own dirigible, it carry the name of a starship I wrote about, the "Ion Butterfly". When I first read that, I read it as "Iron Butterfly", which is possibly more appropriate for an airship. Hmm . . . Vendetta Indomitable Inconceivable Lighter Than Air Lighter Than Aether Queen Victoria's Revenge Black Diamond Heterodyne V (for the Girl Genius fans ) Challenger Hephaestus Flying Fenian Just some quick brain-barn storming . . .

I would name mine the Slipstream Pioneer, but on reading this thread I thought that naming one The Countess of Lovelace might be a nice thing to do.

6 RN ships, 1 USN ship, and 3 starships from various universes, but as far as I know no airships, so far, have been named Bellerophon.
Bags it!

There's only one decent name for a Zeppelin or dirigible. The Queen Victoria!!

You take a big round zeppelin and name it after a woman, implying that she's fat.

One of the most popular soaps in Britain is Eastenders... The local pub is called the Queen Victoria (Queen Vic for short) Does this imply that The Late VR was a drinker then?

I've always been fond of battleship names, so perhaps Resolution, Implacable, Zealandia, or Swiftsure.
Potemkin it is then... Sorry, I mean Потёмкин Then why not Avrora?

The Widow of Windsor had lots of BIG things named in her honor... ships, locomotives, cities... why not an airship. Not an insult at all.. Cheers Harold

How 'bout the HMS? Thus completed, it forms the overly excessively unnecessary redundancy of HMS HMS
