I, as it should be clear, would name my ship "Eudora." Don't ask me why. It's just... a thing.
If it were a military ship... it would be called the Eponymous. It's a joke, you see. Because almost all of the old ships I hear about are either named after someone, or a long word.

Depends upon the LTA gas... For hydrogen, "Proton Torpedo" or "Proton Bomb".
For Helium, "Noble Giant"
Or perhaps, simply, "Gassy McWindbag"

"Fortune's Folly" because the day Baron von Sasha gets a zeppelin is an unfortunate day indeed! Well, for everyone who isn't me. Having just googled that name, it appears my zeppelin will be sharing its name with a romance novel. How dreadful for that book's author.

With that zeppelin/novel-combo you just made me imagine a pink zeppelin with lots of fluff and bows and a crocheted antimacassar on top.

Dear oskila,
i like the description...I wonder if it would look like a flying pink elephant....or give you the element of surprise as your adversaries gape at the fluffy pink zep flying toward them.

It would be shiny and new and probably have some poor unfortunate soul's name on the title. Assuming zeppelins need titles as cars do...

With that zeppelin/novel-combo you just made me imagine a pink zeppelin with lots of fluff and bows and a crocheted antimacassar on top. In the "Age of Sail", bored crewmembers on long voyages created some amazingly-decorative bits of fancywork in cordage and canvas I see no reason 'blue sky" sailors would allow themselves to be outdone by their "blue-water" brethren " The Marlinspike Sailor" by Hervey Garrett Smith (ISBN 0070592187 and available in full, as page-images, via Google Book Search) is something of the modern (circa 1950) 'Holy Writ' on the subject. A most useful and amusing book.

That sounds like the kind of name one of the charachters in 8-bit Theater would come up with.... Either that or the Flying Deathtrap....

The Triumph!
I mean, it's a zeppelin. It has to have a powerful name! Can't settle for something that won't hold any air...

So... How about 'Steely Dan'...? You mean Steely Dan 3 from Yokahama...? It suits an airship, doesn't it? Metallic, rigid, steam-powered, and sets ladies hearts aflutter.
