A luxurious gaahhh for me.
We are overflooded with work, here at the office. It seems like every other rival is getting out of business or can't get enough work to do.
I work as a draftsman at a plumbing company.
ah well, at least I have work to do. I feel for you Lady Ava. I've been at a job where I didn't have anything to do, but had to show up anyway. Those days take forever.

I have that at work quite often as well, especially now the holidays and vacations are over. I just bring homework to work, and end up getting paid for doing homework, which I think is pretty epic.

My only gah for the day is not having done any actual homework yet today, but since I`m kind of beyond caring right now, it`s not really a true gah, more of a minor annoyance that will very likely fix itself tonight when I suddenly start doing homework at 11 pm, because that`s what usually happens anyway.

I won't be able to be at my sister's graduation ceremony; its not a huge deal, after all she missed mine because of school, but I did really want to be there. Unfortunately, even if my new job were to give me my vacation time early so I could go, I would spend most of the time in the car driving, and then have no vacation time for the rest of the year. So I get to stay home and take care of the puppy. Oh well, things could be worse I suppose.

It's like saying when you try to extrapolate the end of the universe, you say, if the universe is indeed infinite, then how - what does that mean? How far is all the way, and then if it stops, what's stopping it, and what's behind what's stopping it? So, what's the end, you know, is my question to you."

I think that bit's damaged already!

(nothing too serious, just the plastic engine undertray- the bit that makes that part aerodynamic, just need to put it on a ramp and reattach it more securely)

The main program I need for my classwork was updated on Friday, which means I need the new password... Trouble is, NO ONE seems to have a clue about where to get it, who to get it from, or even what I'm asking... I've called twice ( left on hold for way too long), left emails for various people in charge, but no answer... Gaaaahhhhh!

I ordered a steampunk clock from Myth & Legends Collectibles several weeks ago. They emailed once that the clock they were ready to ship was damaged. Good catch, I emailed back. The clock they  did end up sending arrived today. The top of the clock was broken off. Perhaps I could have glued this piece back on. But when seeing if the clock itself worked, I noticed the minute hand was bent so badly it looked and felt like it might break off. The hour hand wasn't in much better shape. It too was bent, unable to pass over the time numbers. I imagine the seller will replace it though I hate paying any shipping fee to return an item that was damaged when it arrived. I had even bought a single wall shelf for the clock. Now I hope I don't have to return that as well!

Couldn't decide whether to post here or not. Don't have a GAH but I might have one later. If I have one later then this post would account for it. If I don't have one later, then I'd be accused of illegal posting. Now, after thinking about it, being accused of illegal posting would constitute a genuine GAH and thereby negating the 'illegal posting' label placed on me. If I have a genuine GAH and don't post it then I would be failing to alter the time/space dimensional rift because of said genuine GAH would have had caused in the alternate time line. Being dyslexic does not help the problem/solution quandary and increases my mental suspended animation. I guess I'm being too paranoid to listen to my other self.

What I've experienced after our son died
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
is that our perfectly healthy daughter keeps us busy. She shows us that life goes on, no matter what. I bet you will have that same experience, if you haven't already. I hope you get better soon and focus on the good things in life.

For my gaaah of the day: started today early (5am buzzer, 6am at work) to finish my work in time. At 10 I get an email that turns my prior work in the bin. Change of plans, back to the drawingboard. Litterally.

Received a parcel....funny, why is there a big hole in it?
Contains Steel parts for a 5" gauge railcar.
The axles made of CR60 steel (10 mm diameter) were bent!
I do not have the foggiest notion how they did it. An axle of this diameter can (according to my mechanical engineer friend) take a bit more than 4 tons (!) without bending. (elastic load). Two wheel flanges have been badly damaged ans some more things also.
The whole thing weighs less than 30 kgs. If it was dropped from 1m it would be less than 300kg (using g = 10 for lazyness). As the axles are bent about 20 degrees I do not know if the parcel has been dropped out of an airship or a running train. Of course, they say, all this is due to improper packaging. (even a sturdy wooden frame would not have survived this treatment). They will pay for the repairs but this delays my project for WEEKS and takes a lot of my time. I have been looking forward to this because the parts were due to arrive in November and all the other parts have been sitting under my bench for months. So I was happy to get the parcel only to be completely diasppointed afterwards. Background: I developed a motor controller and wanted to use this railcar as a testbed. Some friends are waiting to get this controller for their projects.....

Lets see how it will go on.

Not so much a gah, just a gah-induced thing. Had a shouting match with mother the other day. The dam burst and everything that was held back for so many years was said. In a way, I feel relieved. In another, I don't.

GAH.

Had a little go at my Mum today because she says she can hear well, but expects me to repeat everything, sometimes several times. My voice may not be that of a BBC announcer, but it's clear enough. So if I talk in a normal voice I have to repeat myself, and if I talk loud I get 'No need to shout, I can hear fine'.

It makes conversation trying.

Also my Bro left my Christmas presents from his side of the family at Mum's, and she'd 'forgotten' to give them me until today. Made a nice treat tho'. The gem of the presents is a book about the Enigma Code machine, a big elegantly bound hardback in a protective hard cover, I'm going to enjoy this having recently struggled through a Biography  of Alan Turing.

*snip*

I have to deal with this as well. My mother is closing in on 70 yrs at this point, and her hearing is not what it used to be. If I speak with my normal voice, she's all "WHAT? WHAT DID YOU SAY?" and if I increase the volume (keeping respectful tone, mind you) she yells at me, demanding to know why I am yelling. :/

Her brother, my uncle, has a hearing aid for this exact reason. I can't seem to be able to explain to her that having a hearing aid is no shame, just like having glasses is no shame. :/

My GAH:

My complete inability to be organised. I spent an hour today trying to find a letter to take into uni for photocopying (It's the letter they sent me to inform me I'd qualified for a scholarship). I eventually found it underneath some bank statements from 2009 at the very bottom of my 'important stuff' chest. God knows how it managed to get there since June last year... Time for a new filing system!

You want to try and have a discussion with my mum. She has dementia. Apart from asking every visit if I've heard from my brother recently (who died three years ago) and thinking everyday is Saturday, last week , when I mentioned something taking place in January she said "But you've missed that. It's April!"
