St. Wowzer's Book of Very Silly Things.

On a recent voyage of exploration to the wild forests of Finland Igor and I were able to dig through the ruins of the monastery of St Wowzer.
St. Wowzer (also called Wozer the stoned) Was a missionary sent to convert the Saami people in the early 14th century. His success in converting them was negligible . He did however discover from his diet of reindeer moss and very interesting mushrooms that he had amazing visions, and spent his final years living high in the top of a large birch tree outside the monastery. His last words according to his biographer , ( Fat Frederick ) were." OH WOW!!!! DUDE! Look I can fly! " He couldn't.

We were hoping to locate a copy of the visions he had recorded in his Book of Very Silly Things.  What we found was a greater treasure. The stash box of St. Wowzer. Sadly we were prevented from bringing back the contents  for testing as Igor ate them and then flew home ahead of me.

Have you considered another scientific expedition to Finland, to collect multiple samples of such mosses & mushrooms?  Many of us would love to study them & put them to the test (in the laboratory, of course!)

Fly Agaric (in red and white) is what made reindeer fly.     (and the shamans would sometimes drink their fly agaric laced urine and then climb into the hut via the chimney....)  This find is really putting me in the Christmas spirit.

Mayhap this could be ground fine or crushed with a mortar & pestle, & then mixed with lard or an oil.  The resultant concoction could be used as a linement or a lubricant, with very "medicinal" results.

According to Fat Frederick, his feast day was sometime in the Spring. Or maybe in the Fall. No. Wait ! It was ............... What was the question?  Frederick was known for his famous cat , more than his excellent memory.  (If you get the cat reference you are probably another old hippie.)

I was doing some research into early northern European manuscripts a few years ago, and while in Finland was given a present by a frail old Finnish fisherman named Freddi. He was the last of his line and had no-one to whom to pass his family heirloom, an ancient scrap of vellum apparently taken from a holy book and revered by the family as an holy relic. Understanding my interest in the subject, he bequeathed it to me upon his death, shortly after I dined with him on evening.
Despite much study I could find no provenance for it, and it has remained a mystery to this day. But I suspect that you may have acquired the original tome from which this fragment was cut. I submit it for your perusal:
