Greetings to you, Gentlefolk of Brass Goggles, As you will see from the attached photographic representation, we are in the process of converting my scooter into a Time Machine. The process is not complete and the machine does not yet function fully as a time travelling device. Hopefully the conversion will be completed next year. Or last year...

Thanks, Guys.
The next stages will be to address the hood (I never thought I'd describe something as "too purple") and the seat. And possibly motorise the disc (which currently turns by hand power).

And possibly motorise the disc (which currently turns by hand power). Which I'm guessing limits you to moving forwards and backwards in time by only a few seconds

And possibly motorise the disc (which currently turns by hand power). Which I'm guessing limits you to moving forwards and backwards in time by only a few seconds Precisely. It's further complicated by the temporal trubulence that occurs around the disc as it spins - it's too dangerous to someone else to stand close enough to turn it for me and it's awkward to get up any real speed turning it from my seat.

I for one, am very impressed. What a great idea. This is the second "Scooter" steampunk conversion that I have seen, perhaps you should organise a rally.

There will be more work on it. I'll post pics as advances are made. I'll also get the Professor to post some WIP photos from the last month or so.

Should anyone wish to know, here are a few details of how Lady Chrystal's wish for temporal enhancement of her Tramper was realised. The machine of the 1960 film is referenced, but as a rough guide rather than a template for duplication. The disc is a 1.2m parabolic reflector (from a de-commissioned microwave radio link that once carried mobile phone calls). The outer rim was cut away, then a hub added (made from wheelchair castor wheels) which would allow rotation of the disc when finished but also helped with the spray painting (the hub is covered by a plastic bag here). After painting, vinyl decals were added (threefold symetry was chosen partly because the disc already had three small holes but also just to be different) and an edging strip added round the outside (as used on restoring old cars with protruding spot welded seams). Here it is mounted to the vehicle. Construction of the control unit next, the body is simply a section of 150mm duct and MDF end discs covered in black vinyl. A further internal disc is rotatable and is accessible through a slot, it has a threaded socket into which the control rod can be inserted. The lamp unit consists of a base cut from two layers of a discarded hardwood bread cutting board, conventional bayonet lamp sockets, and cages bent from 4mm brass tube. I was a bit unsure of bending the brass tube, but found it was easy to form around discs cut from plywood and screwed down. The control rod itself is a spindle from a plant pot stand, further turned down, finished and with a glass crystal inside a 2mm brass tubing cage at the end. In situ, the control unit is supported by brass (effect) wardrobe rail and brackets. In this picture you can also see the power feed (it is parasitic upon the buggy) made from conventional PVC wire inside the braided casing of a shoelace. And here is the final ensemble. Close inspection will reveal that all the brass screw heads have their slots aligned. My inner Sheldon cannot be denied...

But, wouldn't that start disapating as you approach 88 Miles Per Hour? I would also like to the machines Flux Condensor.

Great work! Just don't point that the thing at the setting sun (Atlantis was destroyed in a similar situation). Ah, thanks for the warning!

I believe Arceye is undertaking a scooter mod ( I donated small carriage lamps)
With the Asylum being a 'campus' rather than hotel based con this type of scooter mod is necessary for some members, especially given Steep Hill

But, wouldn't that start dissipating as you approach 88 Miles Per Hour? Bah! The umbrella effect would never allow 88MPH! Outrageous! Besides- you would run over the man with the Red Flag! Seriously though, this is lovely! More pics please! (BTW Mr Crow- from your new Avatar... surely placing a Nameless horror from the Outer Deeps on a frictionless surface is only going to Pi55 Him Off Royally when he gets off through one of those *wrong* angles... ) HP
