No, not a dream sequence, that would be a d!ck move. It was more to establish the reality but giving Joe real doubts and, in a sense, by lampshade hanging.

Rourke and Co. have destroyed the tank, and now shalll be attacking from the enemy's rear.
Mina's just a (rather large) vampire bat, but a russian bullet seared her rear end, so now she's a very-pissed-off vampire bat...
Also, a little more help will be arriving for the guards, the battle noise having attracted the rest of the search/guard force.

Otherwise no the spell only works on those not inside something
I think Joe and Adrik are currently being ushered towards field medics to be checked over before being taken onto the Marigold an taken to be treated in the medical bay (If they need any)

Either the "Flying (takeoff and landing deck, at stern of the ship) Deck," the topside observation deck (the one with the two deck guns), or teh observbation deck ouside the control car, are all outside of the skin of the ship; the Flying Deck is basically a strip of deck that is partially enclosed by the ship's armored outer skin, with an armored bulkhead and door that lets into the 'stable' area, and after another bulkhead door next to the salon/lounge, into the rest of the ship. It also serves as a hold/freight door area, that is where the medics would bring Joe and Adrik aboard. It's underneath the bulk of the stern of the ship, but not actually within the ship. Thus, I would think that yes, Madd could probably see the battle if he were outside the cowling surrounding the bulkhead end of the deck.
Joe and Adrik could be witnessing the battle, but as Cap'n Wallace has stated, they would most likely be getting triaged by the medics before being taken aboard. if he's (Madd) on the topside deck, or the control car's (bridge's) exterior obs deck, he'd definitely be able to see whats going on, I would think.
