I' say I'm done save for noting that Talbot is with Rooney I can pick up Talbot leaving the Russians to their devices, after all he's posing as an engineer (So will have access to Adrik to do a bit of convincing to join the Marigold) but not an interrogator (doubt he'd get access to Rooney once they get where they're going but can at least keep checking he's alive)

It will also give him time to get out and about to send the message to England letting them know where they've ended up.

And put in place some way of getting the rest of the Marigold team in to rescue Rooney (With the possible help of Adrik)

In that case, I'd say we're basically good to go for part 4

Yup I'll fire you and mark a PM tomorrow to resolve some of the finer details regarding Talbot wandering around and acting in the shadows to get people in and people on side  Grin

Poor Starling I am seeing her up for a potentially awkward conversation next game. She hasn't really lived with other people on a regular basis since she moved to london.

I regret to say that due to a rather horrendous save-a-buck mistake, involving the numbe r of GB transferred per billing period, the internet connection here will be severely curtailed for the foreseeable future (at least a year, apparently). I do not know how much time I or others can be online (nor why in the blazes they had to mess with the perfectly-good setup already in existence), and for at least the next week I will only be able to be online at all sporadically -- and probably not much in BG or the other forums I habitually participate in.

I therefore hand over GM duties to Corsair and Stella, at least until I am able to solve this difficulty.  Divide them between you, or one or the other take over. I consider both of you to be too good of friends of mine to favor one over the other. Stella can write for Rourke; either keep him around, or kill him off, your choice. I do plan to return as soon as I can, perhaps to take over again, or perhaps not, but whether it will be a day or a year, I cannot say with any degree of certainty.

I apologize for this abrubt change, but the circumstances being what they are, I have no choice in the matter. Feel free to PM me about this if you wish. I can't guarantee that I'll be able to see or respond to it very soon, but I'll try.

Again, my deepest apologies.

Sincerely, MWBailey

That's a shame to hear, Bailey. We'll carry on no doubt and try to avoid walking into points where we have to wait for you. I hope the issue can get resolved without too much difficulty.

How far is all the way, and then if it stops, what's stopping it, and what's behind what's stopping it? So, what's the end, you know, is my question to you."

Aaawww Gawd. Maybe this is one for the Gaaaahhh thread...

I'm so sorry to have caused any disruption. The situation is serious, but not nearly as catastrophic as I was at first led to believe.

Sorry about the scare and alarmism, but "certain other residents" rushed into my room a couple hours ago, all hysterical about how much time I was using/how much data I was transferring/misreptresentation on the part of the salesman who convinced our head of household to sign up/ etc. ad nauseum, and we all pretty much fell off of the deep end and had a heated discussion over supper.

It now appears that forum usage/posting will not be terribly taxing on our account (extreme eyeroll). I might be able to come back to the RP by the end of the week, but it's too soon to tell yet. (have to talk to the provider and see about figuring out what our current rate of usage is, etc.).

I should be able to keep up the PM traffic; it and the forum posting, minus excessive vid links, don't appear to use much bandwidth (knock on a really big chunk of wood).

Sorry to have shaken things up. We're still figuring out the situation here, but hopefully it will not be as bad as I was at first led to believe.

I decided to just go ahead and buite the bullet, so to speak, and go ahead and post until whatever happens, happens.

That bit about the Radioman could count as Rourke's final post for this episode, unless y'all want me to do the message bit as well.

Reading and writing on the forum doesn't use much bandwith, next to nothing in fact.
What generates a lot of data traffic is downloads, especially movies or music, watching lots of Youtube videos - or other videos for that matter... yes, I mean exactly what you think.
Maybe you should check the online habits of your "certain other residents"?

So far as I know, I'm the only one in the family who posts pics or watches Youtube or other videos. Not the other other vids, mind you, but just anime and drama-type stuff on other sites - like Crunchyroll & Hulu. Hmmm...

I would check your setup for viruses.  That should take very little to do if you arn't downloading huge files.

WiFi or a network with cable?
If it's WiFi, someone may have hacked into your network and using your connection for his downloads and things.

I think you may be laboring under a misapprehension; I guess I wasn't as clear as i shoould have been. We are not experienceing a massive unauthorized data usage problem, but rather the aftermath of the head of household buying a (very confusing) new provider package. They're paranoid about the amount of data already transferred, and how much the other user in the house and I use on a regular basis.

Basically, it's a computer paranoia/save-as many-bucks-as-possible/oh-my-god-the-salesman-tricked-us type of issue. The head of household has said that he's thinking of dropping the provider at the end of the contract period and going completely wireless with a different company. Apparently the salesman who sold him the new package misrepresented the rates and billing procedures.

No hacking has as yet occurred -- but thanks for your concern.

Post in the between stories to have Talbot sending the message

first a letter to Gladstone himself, written as a one friend writing to another, the second a letter to Starling detailing Rooney's situation and the best place for them to meet

Hopefully I've not posted anything that upsets any plans and added a little back ready for the start of the next instalment

If anything needs changing let me know I tried to keep the location as vague as possible to allow it to slip in anywhere in Russia,

Assuming that either
A. the ship got back to Londion and Rourlke is at teh Nadir court, or

B. Mina naged to get herself aboard teh Marigold, Throne and all, whicle it was still off teh coast. eithe rwill work, though B is rather improbable.
