Sorry chaps, I'm not especially well at the moment, my creativity has been drained along with my health.  I might be a few days, sorry to let you down.

You don't let anyone down, it is "only" a story after all and real life should always take priority before the virtual world. Hope you get better soon!

As I mentioned before, I'm probably too busy to write as well for a few days, so maybe you can just drag Alex and Issa along? (You can make it a running gag if you like, them being always "occupied" or "elsewhere"... I don't mind...)

Private Weasel and Evelyn: Don't worry, I/e'll haul 'em along with us.

---
I might be intermittently busy too, what with end-of-year stuff and all, so it might be necessay to haul Rourke along as well, but I'll try not to let that happen for too long or too often.

We don't need to move at a blistering pace and the interlude with Starling's aunt can happen perhaps when we next land.  that would be a logical place for us to split off.  Especially should a message arrive giving a few of the team different orders to be carried out at the same time.

And through Handthorpe Starling has discovered Penicillin decades earlier than history says.  Tho there were limited uses of stuff like it in this time it didn't really make it until the 20s.

Dang computer is freaking out and crashing. Sorry for a line being left out of my post.

DUHN Duhn duhn... The plot thickens... I think I'll add a bit to that post and have the Marigold coming in for a landing in Cairo, maybe split the group up temporarily...hmmm...

I keep seeing Handthorpe as a cross between Henry Fonda's character Frank from Once Upon A Time In The West, and Charles Bronson's villain in that old Three For Texas Movie (Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra in a western, of all things)

OoPs: it was Four for Texas:

Enter the aunt and a group of npcs to be used as wrenches in the works.  I imagine Starling takes after her father and uncle.  Feel free to use them however you like.

I plan on renaming the game thread corresponding to this OOC thread as 'The log of the HMAS marigold: The tablet and the dagger' to make sure the two games are identified as part of a series. Is this ok?

Also, I should warn in advance that this thread will need to be deleted in a few months unless it is merged with the present game (once it is done) or vice versa.

Name change sounds like a good idea; the merger would probably be a good idea as well.

I now realise I inadvertently called the gun with the weaponised vaccine the SWAG gun

"Up jumped the SWAGman, sprang into the billabong"...*runs like hell*

Don't feel too bad, I was considering having them issue Rourke a modified "Greener Gun." (an actual almost-period harpoon gun, no, I didn't make up the name, its actually called that... :D):

It's about 1/4 of the way down the page, apparently dates from the 1850s...

About killing Handthorpe: Go ahead and try, but don't be surprised if he just keeps coming back. He's a nemesis NPC, I'm thinking eventually similar to (but not really the same as) Brian O'Landry from the Steam London RP. He's not undead or a vampire ...yet. I haven't decided what his relation to Miss Harker is; I'm thinking that the Harker affair was the first time that Rourke faced Handthorpe, or perhaps he just heard of him in that context.

Also: while I haven't made it a hard-and-fast rule, I'd prefer that a character can only be decided to be killed off by that character's creator.

Thoughts? ideas? complaints?

------------------
I hope I haven't overstepped with Miss Starling's Auntie.

You haven't at all. in fact this makes it that much better.  Writing that last part was way too much fun.  I think one of the boys may have to pick up the kicking screaming aunt to keep her from being lunch.

I had suspected not being able to kill the main bad guy

And yes I agree the actual death of any character should be down to the characters owner even if they are set up in an inescapable situation (like falling to earth without a parachute)

Also, I realise I ended up writing in some Greenie science, I hope that doesn't conflict with the existing disease fluff

I know Redburn's been somewhat dedicated to the killing of Handthorpe and he does have his reasons, personal though they might be. I, on the other hand, completely agree that only the GM should be able to kill off NPCs. That's just the way of the game.

Also, sorry for being away from the game; I've been at church all evening for band practice. But anyway, better late than never.
"Well, I don't really think that the end can be assessed as of itself as being the end because what does the end feel like? It's like saying when you try to extrapolate the end of the universe, you say, if the universe is indeed infinite, then how - what does that mean? How far is all the way, and then if it stops, what's stopping it, and what's behind what's stopping it? So, what's the end, you know, is my question to you."

Starling is demonstrating why firing wildly at monsters is not such a good idea.

Poor starling has a lot of frustration to get out.  I imagine that greenie is getting told off for everything from work place woes to being blamed for her aunt and the rest of society having backwards views about ladies.  She will most likely not kill it tho because she is raging instead of striking it smartly.

Welcome back, Miss Adler and Mr. Weasel!

Bledsoe is only taking the helm momentarily (it's his command, after all, so he does know how to fly and operate it, just not as well as Redburn ;))

Welcome back, Miss Adler and Mr. Weasel!

That sounds quite zoological!  ;)

I hope my latest addition doesn't clash with the current Greenie fluff. What's worse than a smart clockwork zombie? A FAST smart clockwork zombie!

They are probably really, really rare....
