Dr. Madd, do you mind if you are the character that Pierre once knew? You did say that he reminded you of your character.

Also, where exactly is the Quebec aerodrome in question? How big is it and is there a town or settlement nearby? Or is it just a military installation? What time of year is it?

Being one of the oldest cities on the Eastern Seaboard of the North American continent, and a major trade hub almost since the first day of its founding, I would imagine that Quebec in the game universe is a very large city, and internationally important in trade; thus, its transportation facilities would have to be extensive; probably not on the same scale as London, but not too far from it either.

Thus, the aerodrome would be large, with multiple hangars, mooring masts, and perhaps even an open field for takeoff and maneuvering. Probably a substantial military presence as well. The time of year would be late winter/early spring, I'm thinking.

Dr. Madd:

As for what to call the place where steering and navigation is done, it's called the Bridge, though in fact that is just the front half of what is called the Control Car (the little houselike thing underneath the nose of the envelope), and the actual driver's seat, where Redburn sits when piloting, is the Cockpit.  I'd like to think that there is a protected secondary bridge up inside the the nose of the envelope (squeezed in between the ballonets and the Forward lofting cells), just in case the Control Car gets shot off or something, but whatever fits.

Okay, so you are in Quebec City? My assumption was that you were out in the province.

Does Marcus need to do anything at the moment? When the call came out to prepare to land I just had him stay in his cabin and I'm not sure if that's an unfortunate mix-up.

For purposes of simplicity, the Aerodrome is on the edge of the city; I described the ship's arrival at the borders of and the traversing of, the province.

The problem is that I still have no idea why Pierre would want to join the crew of the Marigold.

You could have him join the crew on commission from the British Military to create a new map of Greenland or to chart the Arctic flight routes to overcome the navigational problems that have been occurring there

We're in Quebec. Being a French speaking area, this would be an ideal spot to have Pierre sign on. He might know Madd because of Madd's connections in French Louisiana during the war.

Ok Fritz, I think we're best off having you join in part 5. If you can't think of an in-character reason to be a part of the crew then you shouldn't be trying to get the character to join the crew. Perhaps it would be best if you took a bit of time out here to flesh out how and why you end up a part of the crew. If you need ideas our inboxes are open (though I must admit I'm not fully up-to-date and may not make the best suggestions) but ideally you should come up with the idea yourself.

I think I should also mention I had a dream about this game, only Bailey was a woman...

I assure you, that incident in Singapore was all a misunderstanding.

Wasn't I the one that asked for all of you to come to Quebec? I don't want to have inconvenienced everyone for nothing.

I know it's not very original, but I could just have him stowaway on the Marigold in order to leave the area because he was accused (falsely or otherwise) of a felony. Or he could sign up for a position to pay off debts.

His background isn't very well developed, I figured I'd add onto it as I went along.

Originally he was just an eccentric and oddly literate French Canadian frontiersman. At first I thought he was self-educated but now I am thinking he was once an academic and suffered some kind of disgrace so he left and decided to live a life in the wilderness (this would explain why I said he doesn't like to express his intellectualism often).

Personally I prefer the signing up to pay off debts angle.

Stowing away could work as well, if the ship took on a large parcel that he cold hide in; it's not terribly likely he could just sneak aboard, since the crew in general are all basically habitually on relatively high alert anytime they're on the ground.

Um... I'm not sure whether Rourke gave the key to Wilbur or not. Can we assume he did so?

I wasn't sure either that's why Talbot assumed wilbur would have the key not actually knowing if he did.

I just added Rourke giving the key to Mordaunt to Reply #555 on pg. 23. Consortium can amend the passages the one if he feels it to be necessary.

I'm willing to rewrite and end the Chapter at Quebec and let somebody start a new one, or go on to Greenland, or whatever...

Sorry for the absence; internet connection nosedived for a while.

I'd also add (and this is certainly my fault) that I was a little confused by what was expected of Marcus as we came into land... I just had him sitting in his cabin (and in conversation) before having him exit but I noted characters seemed to be asking for him. I put a question up in the OOC asking about what he needed to do but didn't get a response.

Just to confirm where we are, we've just landed and Marcus has been given a key to Talbot's box (although seemingly he's not one of the people meant to have the key)?
