I think it's still premature to say it's "being shut down." We have someone willing to take over; it's just a matter of establishing communication with proteus.

Just picked up this thread; having followed the two external links (to Wikipedia, and nernst.de) I was fascinated to see on the latter site an advertisement for the Electrical Company Ltd. of London. 

Does anyone know if the Nernst lamp was ever used for street lighting in Britain?  If so, when was it last used?  I seem to remember light fittings like those in the picture as late as the sixties of the last century.
