Ron Santo being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame today. It's a dirty shame it took so long for this to happen, and that he isn't living to witness it, but I'm sure he's reflecting on this from above and has a few wise cracks to make about the fuss people are making over him. What a great man, on and off the field. Had the honor of meeting him while we were in Pittsburgh a few years ago, and thank God my husband was willing to get his photo taken with him. RIP, Mr. Santo, and congratulations on finally making it to the HoF. Edited for missing a few letters and words...hard to type with tear-filled eyes.

Found a two mile walking trail in my neighborhood this weekend. I've been living in my house for ten years and just found out about it. Did a brisk pace from one end to the other, turned around and came back. No phone, no GPS, felt great. The trail borders a creek which ran a mill some years ago. The mill is gone but the exercise was wonderful. Once the muscle aches stop, I'll make another circuit and then try to make this a good habit (have enough of the bad ones).

Found a FULL AND COMPLETE Kodak Instamatic (I THINK it's the model 10) for $1.50 today. Still in the box. I will be buying it tomorrow.
That will bring my current camera collection to:
Canon T3 DLSR Canon Powershot A490 Minolta X-700 Polaroid One600 Kodak Instamatic (IF I'm able to buy it!)
This is good for me, since I like to use EVERY FORMAT OF PHOTOGRAPHY I can. I've even found a few places what have 110 film for sale (albeit expired)!
I am quite excited.
ALSO, if things go as planned tomorrow, I'll get to go shoot up the rest of my roll of 35mm! Then it's just a matter of getting it developed (my darkroom had to go away).

Being a north-westerner I'm very proud of my boots (footwear) and think south-easterners sound funny (when I can understand them)
Last few days I had a hunter's safety course I had to take so I can hunt (don't judge me, it's popular in my town) I passed just fine, so that made me very happy. Congrats on passing, hunting is one of my favorite things to do! I know that there are those who don't agree with it, and that's fine, but I love going. A tag is a whole lot cheaper to fill a freezer than buying meat in the store. One of the things that made me super happy is getting 3 design projects this last week. 2 of them are pro bono, but it's exciting to have something to work on other than school all the time.

I have, once again, become inspired! I tend to suffer frequently from artists block and have been for about a month now. But something triggered it last night which sent me on a sketching spree and today a hunt for random supplies in my aptly named Box of Random Stuff.
It is perhaps one of the best feelings in the world to have an idea explode in ones head and then become reality.

Longest day of the working week is over (a 10-hour shift in 28-degree heat makes me feel ill and the day feel long)....
The rest of the week, we're on 8-hour shifts.
Plus the donor spectacles for my goggles arrived.

Persons intending to travel by open carriage should select a seat with their backs to the engine, by which means they will avoid the ashes emitted therefrom, that in travelling generally, but particularly through the tunnels, prove a great annoyance; the carriage farthest from the engine will in consequence be found the most desirable.

Knocked 7 minutes off of my 30k time, then had a very relaxed on-call (no-one called) afternoon researching whaling ships, fishing trawlers and tug boats in the name of creativity!
Also discovered a nice 50% off of Autodesk Sketchbook Pro, so I now have a nice little sketching package to rough ideas up in!
Got a nice three day break now (though with possible MOT based disaster tomorrow) and another day of being at home on-call after that!
All of this combined with the glorious sunshine has made me happy.

Finished my car this morning (at 5am!). Had to grind all the rust of the metal part the driver side window sits in, it had expanded so much it was fouling the interior structure of the door - hence why It wouldn't wind up.... Took all night to get it cleaned and reshaped. Car is now ready for the MOT tomorrow. It should pass easily, I've double checked everything, though they will probably need to adjust the carb to get it passed the emissions test as it's burning a little rich. Getting that finished made me very happy. SS

"One day a mans heart declares itself the most important organ in the body and ticks off its reasons, the brain makes the very logical arguments that while heartfelt the heart is wrong and it is obvious that the brain is the most profoundly important organ, the belly growls that he can't stomach that argument because he's got a gut feeling about anyone who thinks they are more important than him. the lungs just gasp at the notions that the others cannot see his superiority and gets himself all up in a huff. Meanwhile the butt hole just clenched shut. Doesn't say anything or interject, doesn't even look for attention. It just clenches shut and won't let anything pass. Well as you would imagine in short order the others ended up having to admit they were all full of crap and the situation had gotten quite toxic." I love sharing that story with people who get all on the peasants needing to be tended by them because they know the real situation.

I was quite bent out of shape earlier this evening. I almost came on here to Gaaaahhh! in order to vent. I was just too busy on opposite ends of the internet. One side I was calling a guy out for, in the middle of a thread about the future of culture and specifically at that section of the thread languages of the United states, responding to a post about hoping the US embraces Spanish more due to the increasing hispanic population with: I just wish less of them would come over and join violent gangs and peddle drugs... that got me absolutely spitting tacks. I did not let that slide. Then on another end of the internets, two people who had worked together and even made a good team working toward common goals, and despite getting some heat in their everyday lives from people for standing up for things that others would rather leave untold, find themselves on opposite ends of the messy divorce that my first real group of friends since my school days has degenerated into. They were being petty and hostile online and I sort of snipped that I was be glad to give them each a wiffle bat so they could "parody" the crap out of each other, Guess you'd have to be there to get that last part. Anyway Both of these things were going on at the exact same time. Eventually I'm forced to act as a grown up to mediate on sides of the 'divorce' and stand up to racist comments and the person who came in to back up the original posters statements about 'mexicans'. I very nearly came on here and posted a Gaaaahhh! that would have been predominantly s to bleep my potty mouth. lol. Things settled out and I was distracting myself when I got a private message. "Thank you for existing!" Hows that for an ease the end of your day a bit for you? I sometimes feel like it's too much to be in the middle like this or to be the one to make it all uncomfortable by making a scene because I can't let bigotry pass. Sometimes I just want to be the carefree one, and just goof around like a kid. Instead right now my social life is more work than any job I've had in recent memory. It's that kind of work that follows you everywhere and weighs you down. But somebody needed my doing it, and is so relieved that somebody is that they pm'ed me "Thank you for existing!"
