Last night I went to the lovely Villa Ada to watch Giuliano Palma & the Bluebeaters. A great gig by the lakelots of terrible(y fun) dancing out under the stars..
Tonight there was an outdoor screening of The Artist, pretty much opposite Cinecitta. First time I've seen it!
Posting this while relaxing on a hammock, watching the stars... Makes me happy!
Best not to think about the return to the rain drenched floodlands of the UK tomorrow.

Being an epic troll.
I have lost 11 "Friends" on Facebook because of my "Troll-like" activity.
Now, to be fair, I did not start OFF trolling. I had an honest question, and wanted an honest answer.
In the past, this has got me in some SERIOUS trouble (usually when it's political/religious). This time, it was pop-culture related, with only a *hint* of sociopolitical ramifications.
A dialogue was opened, and intelligent debate was had.
And, while that debate was going on, 11 people felt the need to delete me.
I can only assume it was because of the question.
SO, my mate Fluffy and I began a back and forth about how those pointless wastes of human organics had played RIGHT INTO OUR PLAN, and how it was good to be the King, baby.
Now, I'm on my wife's sister's status (asking the same question) trolling one of her friends (just in general).
He's just asked me if I talk like this in person. In pointed fact I DO, good sir! Is that a problem?
He then attempted to insult me by saying "I think we've met before-I was attacked by LARPers in the park one day..."
Pathetic simpleton, LARPing is an amazing thing, and, had it been ME assaulting you, you'd have known-my epic battle cry would have caused you to void your bowls in fear, and crumple into the fetal position, begging for mercy before I even struck a blow on your empty little head...
All in all, HAIL TO THE TROLL KING, BABY! I've got BALLS OF STEEL!
Knowing the discussion you speak of, I too find it hilarious that you lost friends because of it. Keep trolling, good Xenos. Keep trolling.  Which conversation, the Mike one? I'm assuming so. It was legendary even for Xenos, and certainly caused some tension. It was HILARIOUS is what it was! (And Yes, that is exactly the conversation it was. I wasn't TRYING to troll initially-but it just seemed too perfect to NOT to, ya know?) -------- What makes me happy today? Chaps. I own 'em. REAL LEATHER CHAPS. THAT FIT. I paid $16.01, tax'n'all. I have yet to wear them in any sort of OUTFIT, but that will come, and pictures will eventually be posted. |

I have been purposely trying to shake things up with people I am friends with who are on the other side of the board from me politically. Mainly because it is has been those types who have been causing me some grief as of late. Well....THEY WON'T LEAVE. No matter how bad I troll, they insist on sticking around. I guess I may as well keep them...haha. It's good to have friends to disagree with, but they sometimes start to agree with me in the end. |

Saw a brown leather 'Duster' coat that I fell in love with only to realise it was priced at nearly £200 plus postage.
Did an exploratory web search and found one in a New York biker shop clearance sale.
Last day of sale. Last one in shop. My size. And with postage still only £80 total.
Result!

I have acquired a large cadre of antiques and heirlooms ... although the means of which belongs in a thread named OHHH F****ING WTF GAHHHHH (I probably mentioned a bit of it ... moving forward now  ) A 1941 Philco radio / record player in really good shape. quite restorable. An antique (c.1890) Grandmother Clock (a wee bit smaller than a grandfather clock). The wood cabinet is going to require the best of my woodworking skills to undo decades of abuse. I'm also going to rebuild / clean the clockworks and make new weights and get the old girl running again. An antique Mantle Clock (c1900 +/-) ... the kind with a door and fancy pressed wood front. With a little TLC and cleaning this one will definitely work (the striker started moving when I was removing the pendulum). It has all of its parts ... including the key. An old Yale lock ... not sure of age, but I know its much older than I (and that's kinda old) lots of old kitchen utensils - the kinds with the green bits. Also large serving plates and serving pitchers for cream and the like. And ... really old kettles that we used on the wood stove when I was a wee lad. Miss Bird and I will be spending most of Sunday finding nooks and crannys to display these pretties. Two American Flyer steel rail sleds ... these also predate me by a lot. Original Lincoln Log set ... these are first generation - the logs are square! Assorted Solomon Butcher prints of my family. He took a lot of photos in 1890's - 1900's Nebraska (five branches of my family were the original settlers in central Nebraska) I have another 6 boxes to go through - we'll see what my sister packed into them. ... b.t.w. - she got a teapot from the late 1600's, cut glass bowls and goblets from the late 1700's, and my Great-great-grandparents bedroom set from before their move from Pennsylvania to the midwest. Bro got more contemporary stuff (well, he did get the previously mentioned wood stove!) It was a stressful event ( n o c o m m e n t ) ... but the distribution of heirlooms was very equitable between my brother, sister and I . It's the first time that we've been 'family like' ... perhaps ever. There shall be postings in 'Tactile' as things find their homes and get repaired. |
