For the first time in years I reverted to paper and pencil for design work, rather than computer and pen/tablet.

It sure feels good.  Grin

My new white gaiters for my 3rd F&M uniform have turned up  really quickly (a tip of the pith to Wolfram Quicksilver for recommending Tartanista)..and my kilt carrier has also arrived this morning as well. No more arriving at a function with a creased kilt for me!

AHH!! the old "Back of an envelope(tm)" design school - I love it, we too reliant on CAD/CAM these days - whilst I appreciate its place in the world, sometimes the "old ways" are better!

I have a progress review panel to attend on 10th May; this will decide if I can upgrade to PhD.
There is a conference I wish to attend that is normally around that time of year so I was worried I'd miss it. Today the conference date was finally added to the webpage. It's on the 11th this year =] I hope they'll let me attend... I'm only a lowly master's student!

Oh, I always keep a notebook handy for sketching random ideas and jotting down measurements/calculations and such, but this is the first time in ages I've actually drawn artwork. Still need to clean them up a bit and, hopefully, the Memsahib will be engraving them onto glass.  Grin

I won a tow bar for a BMC 1800 off eBay for £10. They are normally around £118 so a bargain. the only thing is I spent most of last week making one myself and it works because I tried it. Never mind I have two now.

Afternoon off work; spent the first part of it walking home through the woods in spring sunshine (good).
Got blisters doing so (nicht sehr gut).
Got home to find a book on Victorian provincial architects has been delivered (grand).
Went down into town and picked up the first parts for my Farnsworth Communicator build from the post office (excellent!)

I see you both, and I raise you a 5 day week, very little of which will be 'proper' work, then 3 weeks off!  Included in that will be 2 weekend jaunts back in time to the War of The Roses, and one to the Alternative Victorian Era we know and love!

We have had our bid accepted on an big house with an even immenser garden with private woodland, right next to a railway station so I can watch the trains. The local pub is called "Beechings" - a sore joke which only Brits* of a certain age will get.

I am ecstatic as it means that at last every member of the family will have their own spaces to undertake projects and not have to clear them off the dining table.

That is indeed another motivator for getting somewhere big enough to entertain guests properly and not have to squeeze them into the space between the sofa and the bookshelves.

For the second Friday in the past 9 months, my main customer did NOT email me in the late afternoon with some dire, world-ending problem that Absolutely Must be fixed before Close of Business Today.  I also received my delivery of a packet of 100 military-surplus P-38 can openers. A very useful piece of kit.

Felt very guilty about having to go to a food pantry this month.  But at least we have food.  Tonight I was finally able to make one of my comfort foods:  Pork chops fried in butter with onions.  Hopefully by the end of next week everything gets sorted out and I can get a hair cut so I don't look like Tarzan and actually get around to the dry cleaners so I don't look like a bum going into a job interview.
