Actually getting some work done. We have to make lists of all the words in the texts from translating class we don`t know, with the hiragana pronunciation, the Dutch meaning, and an example in Japanese with the Dutch translation of the example. It`s all kinds of horrible work, but darn it it feels good to be able to look back and see you already have almost 5 pages in Word filled.
On the sad side, I have 5 pages in Word for just 1,5 page of text, which means I have about 14,5 pages of text to go through left. This might take a while.

I HAVE A JOB!!! Starting next wednesday. I just received the confirmation via phone. Two and a half weeks of job hunting, three interviews and already found a job. That's going to be a new record and a huge boost in confidence.

"Well, I don't really think that the end can be assessed as of itself as being the end because what does the end feel like? It's like saying when you try to extrapolate the end of the universe, you say, if the universe is indeed infinite, then how - what does that mean? How far is all the way, and then if it stops, what's stopping it, and what's behind what's stopping it? So, what's the end, you know, is my question to you."

I'll be working with a company dealing with gold and precious metals. Selling things. And no, I won't be getting 'product samples', in case anyone was wondering.

Replacement vinyl windows installed. Look great and quite functional. Workmen started with the siding. Hopefully, the house will be done, completely, by the weekend.

Successful troll through ex tech elec's workshop! Some very nice goodies indeed, including lots of LEDs & fittings, & a couple of really cool LED steampunk light fittings, neat-o tools to burn & the dinkiest little adjustable wrench you have ever seen!! Not to mention the angle poise lamp, the maggylamp with magnifier & one of those leather & brass steampunk-like old steel tape measures - only needs the brass & leather to be polished to be able to go on display. Add in two fans and a heater - successful troll hunt!

I'm an archaeologist too; hence I thought taking the module would be useful. It was a bad idea for me because I'm barely computer literate! =P How is your degree going?
Also on a side note I'm not a sir... at least not the last time I checked! I thought the icon picture gave it away hehe! I understand though; all archaeologists are bearded middle aged men in stripy jumpers right? Does that apply to Anthropologists too?
My apologies madam. I must admit I did not look very closely at your icon. I'm not sure about the stereotype fitting with anthropologists, since most of the "anthropology" majors I've met/worked with are all continuing on to become archaeologists. In the US to major in archaeology you must get a degree in anthropology (they consider it a sub-category of anthropology here). I actually considered going to school in England (there's a number of schools there I looked at) because that would allow me to simply focus in archaeology. Sadly I was not able to work out the funding for that. My degree would go better if I could get back into college...I took a 7-year hiatus from university to join the US Air Force. It was fun, but now that I'm trying to get back into school, it's proving to be...bothersome. I'm hoping to start back in the fall at the University of Texas in San Antonio. Another two years should finish up my bachelors, and then I should have just enough funding to do a masters as well. Wow I didn't realise that the system worked like that in America; I see archaeology as fitting somewhere in the space between Anthropology and History though so it makes some sense! I hope you get everything sorted and can start you studies again in the next academic year. Funnily enough I considered doing my master's in America; until I looked at the fees! Edit: Just finished the damn GIS essay! Woohooooooo!!!!!!

Made my own Barbecue sauce from scratch, without a recipe. Turned out smashing (if somewhat spicy), actually. It was a ketchup and vinegar based sauce, with red and black pepper, a *hint* of garlic, and some brown sugar.
Poured it over shredded chicken breast, then tossed it in the oven for about a half hour, to blacken the tops of the chicken bits.
It was really, REALLY tasty.

I'm off on a little jaunt...Den Haag, Eindhoven, Berlin, Vienna, Bratislava, Zagreb, Ljublijana, Dresden, Dortmund, Koln... Nice! Though why on earth you`re going to Eindhoven...Maastricht is much prettier :p What made me happy today is that I finished the first subject. As I`m off to do an internship in about 2 weeks time, and I`ll (hopefully!) graduate after that, I won`t have any classes or exams anymore after next week is over. After 4,5 years of insane amounts of work and studying, it`s all coming to an end. Time to move on to the next adventure! =D Now if only the internship people would be so nice as to send me back the filled in contracts and agreements, so I could actually get some administration done, that`d be nice.

I look forward to seeing this! I myself have been working on IDEAS for a Fallout inspired steampunk outfit. Also, my car's brake system. It was going to cost nearly $400 to fix, but, since I have officially referred my ENTIRE family to my mechanic, and he does ALL their needs now, I got it for less than HALF that. No joke-I go the "Keeping it all in the family" discount!

I just talked with my bank & insurance company (all afternoon) and finally found out they are considering my car a total loss (the sad part). I also found out that the insurance payment is going to cover all but $120 of what I owe on the car (the better part). On top of that, I found out that I apparently opted in for the total-loss protection plan when I bought the car, so I don't have to pay the last $120 after all (the even better part). All in all, while I miss my car, I'm glad that I at least was able to not owe anything at the end of this fiasco. I also found out I'm going to have the funds I need to move back to Texas (the best part). Although I was tied up on the phone all afternoon, I ended the day on a happy (and less stressed) note. Also, I created this while on hold...it's a radish:

That sounds delicious. I make a similar barbecue sauce myself, although I use less ketchup and more brown sugar. And probably more vinegar as well. But I digress...

Oh, I doubt you use more vinegar... Let's just say my sauce bottle is a re-purposed vinegar bottle! Aye, less ketchup would have probably been good, only the roasted tomato taste it gave it after the broiling set off the chicken fairly well. I do think I needed some more brown sugar, or maybe even some honey or molasses. TODAY, I'm doing homemade chicken salad! I'll report back how it ends up being.

Saved £50 on my insurance renewal on my car! It's a classic car policy with an agreed valuation, so not exactly something I can hit the price comparison websites with. So I did a little "social engineering" and told my insurance company that " Another Leading Company Name" (who I just happen to know are the SAME company as my insurance broker) said they would do the same cover for £47 less. I even added "You can ask him if you like, he's just in the next office..." which is all true - except the quote was actally from their website, and it wasn't actually for an agreed value policy - but I knew they wouldn't bother to check. Sure enough they came in with the 'guaranteed to beat other quotes" thing and offered me £50 less to renew instead. Nice! A 4 minute call, 2 minutes of bullshit and saved 50 quid. Score! SS
