I've decided to visit France in September with one of my friends.  The planning is almost as much fun as the trip.  I even cross-reference guidebook recommendations to get the best ideas.  I love this part of my dork self.   Wink

Very hard to imagine any part of you is 'dork'. Traveling abroad can only broaden one's view of life. Enjoy yourself and have a glass of life. (Remember your camera, we need pics or it didn't happen!)
Oh, I am...dork, that is.  But I really love meeting new people and to get the best bang for your buck you have to use spreadsheets, right?   Grin

finding someone else who ADORES spreadsheets. Also graphs. Graphs make me very happy, in an organised, lovely kind of way!

I don`t even know what spreadsheets are XD

As for travelling, I rarely plan much further than "this town in that week". I tend to just head over, and ask the people there what they think is interesting. When I went to London in december, I think all the planning I did was "oh hey look the hostel offers a stonehenge trip, let`s do that on monday", while I was there from friday to tuesday. Everything else I did was decided pretty much on the spot.

To get back on topic: what made me happy today is the new haircolour ending up pretty good. I was always told by people I shouldn`t be going for the red-ish colours because of all the colour in my face, but I went copper/red and it actually looks rather good, if I do say so myself.

I finished my resume this morning (about 3am, lol).  I'm not sure if I'm happy because I have a really nice looking resume, or if I'm just happy it's done...but either way, I'm happy.

Received another parcel, a book I have been looking for for a long time.
"Niederstrasser" (the ONE book on how to drive a steam locomotive, describing how things work, down to the last screw.).
These sell for about 250 Euros. Got mine for 50, with all the loose plans still present, 2nd edition, 1938

Will wait until the weekend before I start reading. It makes me happy to see it on the shelf next to the Bowen-Cooke steam books.

Technically yesterday evening, but oh well:

we have light in the bathroom again!  Thank god we don`t need candles to find our own shampoo anymore   (there`s an average of 3 bottles of shampoo/conditioner/showergel/I-have-no-clue-what-this-bottle-is per person, for at least 4 people, all lined up and mixed up on the edge of the bathtub, so being able to see something is rather nice).

I also made Korean food tonight for 2 Japanese friends and one housemate - bulgogi and stuffed pancakes, and we had rice and kimchi with it. It turned out pretty good.

I do so very much love Korean food. Might just very well be my favourite in the world, even more so than Japanese.

This probably should be a gaaah ... but it's kind of nice once in a while.

We just hit 18 inches of snow within the last 12 hours.  Very spectacular!  It is still snowing to beat the band.

Yaaa - the satellite dishes are buried, so no broadcast tv or internet - but we've got a nice fire going, a nice stock of candles, some dvd's and a nearly endless stock of fine teas.  And since it ... snow (cold) we could not care less if the power goes out - the yard will make a fine freezer!

I think I'll need an 8 yard kilt.

I second this question.   Grin

What made me happy is realizing today just how much my future mother-in-law respects me.  Normally I'd hate to say such a thing...but we've become pretty good friends.

Ok, this ALSO makes me happy-but mostly what makes me happy today was logging on to Brass Goggles, and seeing the "Stop PIPA" banner at the top of the page!

Gotta get the word out!

Both 5 and 8 yard, and made of a variety of fabrics, from quite a light tartan cotton mix, through to more traditional wool versions! Cheesy

I have a very good friend from Birmingham, I haven't seen for 10 years. I lost her phone number (along with my phone) years ago, she moved house, she wasn't on Facebook nor could she be found through the internet.

Then, a few weeks back, I remembered the name of a friend of hers. Found her on FB, sent her a message along with my phone numbers AND TODAY I GOT A CALL FROM MY FRIEND!!!
Going to visit her soon! I am so happy!  Smiley

...oh and I had another job interview today. This one even for a full-time job.

Well it  started as a Gaaaah!! Got a phone call at work from the Care Home my mum is in informing me that she had  taken a rather nasty tumble this morning in her room hitting her head/face, shoulder and arm. She was taken to The London Hospital at Whitechapel for x-rays and a check up and I was hugely relieved to get a phone call about 4pm telling me that apart from a hell of a shiner she's Ok and back in the home safe and sound but feeling very foolish.. mainly because she had  tried to walk to the window to check on the weather without using her walking frame.

While eating lunch today I overheard a man discussing making a film involving government conspiracies, zombies, and born again christians. That kind of made my day.

While not all parts of the day were great, this evening has been splendid. Home made pizza, some tasty beer, a relaxed pipe whilst walking the puppy, and the promise of some sleep soon. Grin

It's like saying when you try to extrapolate the end of the universe, you say, if the universe is indeed infinite, then how - what does that mean? How far is all the way, and then if it stops, what's stopping it, and what's behind what's stopping it? So, what's the end, you know, is my question to you."

I HAVE A JOB INTERVIEW ON MONDAY!!!!!!!!   Grin  It is in a field I never dreamed of working in and one that I didn't think I had any qualifications for, but a recruitment office tagged my resume.  Apparently with the financial sector's big screw ups, companies are looking more and more toward people with a background in art because apparently we think in innovative ways.   Grin  If this is going to be a continuing trend, I think I have a lot to look forward too, maybe the modern world won't be so bad after all.  The best part is, it's a job to support a family on and then some.

I'm not sure what has made me this happy- but I'm feeling pretty damn great right now.

Determined to go out dancing tonight. Got too much energy to sit still atm... Seriously worrying that Ginsters pasties may now contain speed as a secret ingredient.. or someone's tampered with the tap water supply =P

Well it started out as a GAH, but it ended up making me happy. My work computer was refusing to recognize my CD drives, and when we finally got an IT guy out here he was worried he wouldn't be able to fix it. (Apparently he'd run into the problem recently and hadn't been able to do anything.) Happily, it worked, and now I'm cranking the tunes in my office! Grin
