Going into HMV and finding Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and the 1958 (?) Around The World in 80 Days yesterday. Movies for the weekend sorted, then  Wish my wife could enjoy Around the World in 80 Days with me. She watched a portion of it a few years ago and promptly fell asleep. The humor, the cameos of various actors, the attempts to show "exotic" scenery of the time - none of it appeals to her. And it's one of my favorite movies.  |

I've started to document the construction of some of my model locomotives on facebook and called the photo album there 'Studies in Steel'. I'm playing with the minds of my friends to see just how many of them will understand the reference For those who may be in the dark- A Study in Steel was the title of a film produced by the London Midland & Scottish railway in the mid-1930s documenting the construction of an express steam locomotive. |

Today, after 3 weeks of almost continuous rain, it cleared up long enough for me to give my 0-4-0 a test run.
Steamimg up went well. The repairs and adjustments I made were successful.
Steamchests, valve gear, axle bearings have all been repaired and adjusted.
Had a pretty good time today steamimg through the garden.

I went to the thrift store today in the hopes of finding something I can use in a maybe-possibly-upcoming-project: a raygun. I found some stuff I can hopefully use. Now I just need more supplies and tools and skills. On the lookout for something along the likes of epoxy-glue/putty now (I have neither the tools, the money to buy the tools, or the skills to use them, to make something without using glue, so for now I`ll have to break that unwritten rule of "no glue"). Ah, so many ideas, so little time, skills and supplies to actually do them properly with *sigh* . Practice time it is!  |

Yesterday's happy actually: I felt a bit down. I have just been unemployed for a little over a week now, I have enough money to sustain me for the greater part of this year, there is really nothing to be worried about yet - only I am. Occasionally. Can't help it. But the happy part is: in moments like that, there is always a friend who cheers me up, one way or other. And I'm glad because I have such wonderful friends. Some of them I've even met through this forum! |

I've not been that happy at Uni all year because I didn't get to do the course I really wanted to do. I went into uni today and asked to swap the module I'm currently doing- because I didn't feel I could do the work. About 2 hours before the deadlina and they were so kind. They have let me do the module really wanted to do as a Distance Learning course instead although this is subject to checking with someone higher up (but if I do have to switch back I'll get a 4 week extension on my work!).
I'm so happy today- my future finally seems to be back on track.
