I remember reading the true story of a carpenter trying to place plywood over a church window broken in a windstorm. As the wind was still gusty he was having trouble with the plywood and at some point verbally relieved his feelings only to turn around and see a nun behind him. As he tried to stammer out an apology she interrupted to say "Oh, don't apologize, it made me feel like a girl again. My father was a carpenter." and walked away smiling.
Well done. Accomplishing any task for the first time is a great feeling.

Something completely different. I've got a bread making machine for cristmas. First bake went really well! It's fun to throw in some ingredients (well weighted of course) turn on the machine and come back in 3 hours to find a nice fresh loaf of bread.

Went into work for 8 this morning. Got sent home at 2 with no work to do Even better; we've been given tomorrow off (again due to lack of work) and the two 12-hour shifts that we were told we would have to do tomorrow and Friday- look to be cancelled.

Persons intending to travel by open carriage should select a seat with their backs to the engine, by which means they will avoid the ashes emitted therefrom, that in travelling generally, but particularly through the tunnels, prove a great annoyance; the carriage farthest from the engine will in consequence be found the most desirable.

Similar situation with me today-went in at 8:30, was sent home at 10:15. Not from lack of WORK, though-I'm quite ill. Ah well, short days always make me happy!

I have a great cinnamon bun recipe for a bread machine, let me know if you want it. The danger is that they are far better the first day...so that's when you eat them.

I just a had a breakfast bagel sandwich so I'm fine now. (pulled an all-nighter to make sure my fiance gets up in time) I simply resurrected an almost dead thread: http://brassgoggles.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,32155.0.html

BEAUTIFUL!!! I love those masks! (...a bagel cannot compete with Banoffee Pie, but hey, whatever works for you...)Thank you! A bagel is comfort food for me. Comfort food wins always, especially when it is freezing outside and I want to go to sleep but I must stay awake for 2 more hours......1.5 liters of Mountain Dew and Brass Goggles are keeping me going. And comfort food just reminded me of Reubens....but the nearest place to get one does not serve them until 11am. (it is 5:17am)

Now you must explain what Reubens is? (Don't forget, I'm one of these continental Europeans!) I do like bagels and I'm all for comfort food! Didn't we have a thread around here somewhere?

What made me happy today:
Seeing my lovely friend Sam for the first time in ages.
Getting a dunagree dress in the sales- I was a deprived child apparently because I never owned one before =P
Assassin's Creed Revelations =]

Thank you my lovelies, I feel very enlighted now (at least on the Reuben front). Did make the Banoffee Pie today, it looks very tasty... have to wait until dinner to try. (Then again, is Banoffee Pie REALLY meant to be shared?) AND: I had the most lovely evening yesterday, heard some great music, met friends and had fun and great conversations. Also got slightly intoxicated on cider.

You and I BOTH, mate... I may run down to the local eatery and just SEE if they have a decent Reuben. LAST year, it was rubbish. I hope my strongly worded opinions on it (which ended with me being asked to leave) were taken to heart-for one, you NEVER serve one up COLD. EVER.
