A NORMAL DAY!!!!  Yes, a completely mundane day has made me extremely happy.  Mainly because it's the first day my fiance and I have had without any kind of action or drama.  We finally got to be 100% our usual selves.  AND WE DID NOT ANNOY EACH OTHER!!!!!!!   Grin  Considering we met as political activists, drama has been our norm from the beginning.

The Navy do seem to have a penchant for this sort of thing....

Duck Sauce Barbra Streisand Royal Navy

perhaps they could try using them as a recruiting tool....

My boyfriend has a new job =] I'm so happy- it's the best early Christmas present ever. Watching his self confidence decrease over the last year has been heart breaking- now he can be productive and therefore happy again.

Finals are over!!!  Cheesy

The fact that I didn't have finals makes me happy. It also makes a Master's degree sound less pleasant.

I'm also very happy that my day improved. Five hours ago I was looking to bite someone's head off and now I'm in a much better mood.

"Well, I don't really think that the end can be assessed as of itself as being the end because what does the end feel like? It's like saying when you try to extrapolate the end of the universe, you say, if the universe is indeed infinite, then how - what does that mean? How far is all the way, and then if it stops, what's stopping it, and what's behind what's stopping it? So, what's the end, you know, is my question to you."

I came out of work into the dark and drizzle and saw a police car pulled up beside a parked car across the street.  When I got closer I saw that the driver was elderly and didn't move easily.  A little closer and I saw what the police were up to - they were out in the drizzle changing the old man's tire for him.  How cool is that?

Once upon a time, my tire went flat about a block away from my house, and about a block away from the police station (I live two blocks away from da PoPo).  I had just had around 500lbs of freight fall on me at work about two weeks earlier, and I was unable to change it.  I walked to the police station, and asked if anyone could help.  The biggest, baddest mutha you ever did lay eyes on came out, walked the block with me talking about his daughter and her dance recital, and then proceeded to change my tire (even HE had difficulty breaking the bolts-there was no way in HELL I could have).

Your story reminded me of that.

I like da PoPo, dey am mine friends.

Today, after class, one of my first year students came up to me and said:

Also, me and a whole bunch of friends are going to see the new Sherlock Holmes tonight :DDDD

Shoot me down in flames, but somebody who 'doesn't move easily' should not be in charge of a vehicle. How do you cope with any kind of driving emergency if your body does not respond? Or your mind, indeed.
But yay to the cops for helping.

I won't shoot you down, but life can throw you a curve and the body doesn't work the way it used to... I know at 51 my knees are shot and I have artritus in them and my back... I have to use a walker to get around & getting down on the ground to change a tire would be an ordeal I would rather not undertake... LIFE doesn't stop when you become disabled you make adjustments and move on...

the old man the police were helping ... BRAVO! unless he is a danger to himself or others why shouldn't he drive? I would be more concerned with the bubba who is quick of reflex and over confident...

If you ever end up with a disability will you curl up and die? Or will you adjust and move on?

As to what made me happy today?  Talking to a childhood friend today made me happy.

Quoted for truth.

I've been partially disabled since 2006.  And with my recent shoulder injury, I expect to be even moreso.  I continue to play guitar and bass, though it's a bit painful.  You don't stop because your body does.

When you can't run, you crawl.  And when you can't crawl, when you can't even do that...

I bought a copy of The Japanese Devil Fish Girl from WHSmiths (I wouldn't go to A**z*n now if they were the last retailers this side of Jupiter).  And last night I started to read Witches of Chiswick, which is already shaping up to be jolly good fun  Smiley

Tonight is the  Staff Christmas Party here..

Few more shots here
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We always have quite a decent /interesting venue for the Christmas bash (in the past we've had it at Madam Tussauds..Hamleys and The Bloomsbury Ballroom among other venues) but  the company is celebrating it's 75th anniversary this year so it's pushing the boat a a bit further this time!

I have a nice tuxedo suit to wear and I'm really looking forward to it!
