You're not cooking them right then. Grin I've found that slow cooking them with a nice vinegar marinade is an effective way to tenderize them Ahh! That's where I'm going wrong...

A silly joke I hadn't heard made me happy. 'There's a guy works down the hip shop sells his pelvis.' That's all it took to make me smile.

I spent most of today up to my eyeballs in paper mache, paint, lace, ribbons and pins =] I had a blank paper mache mask I made over a year ago, and I finally had an excuse to finish it. I'm going to a friend's 21st tomorrow and it's a masquerade party. My mask is inspired by the Masquerade in Labyrinth. As seen here:
This is my mask: Sorry for the poor quality photo, but I couldn't be bothered to find good lighting when I'm going to take pictures of the whole outfit tomorrow.

Hopefully, come Monday, I'll be back to being fairly regular on here. Just wanted to pop on real quick and say I AM still alive, I'm just not around as much as I'd like.
Today was the first day my computer has been on since Monday night.
So yeah.

Started the morning off early with cowboy breakfast at the chuck wagon. Eggs and salsa with biscuits from a dutch oven cooked in a fire pit with sausage gravy and black cowboy coffee cooked over an open fire. Mmmmmmmmmmm. Then on to the farmer's market and all it's goodies. Following that a trip to the campus of a full day of Cowboy Poetry right here in Alpine. Met some legendary folks and heard their stories, poems, songs and such. A wonderful day with my lady.

We made a proper Song of Ice and Fire feast tonight; Aurochs (beef) roast over leeks, onion cheese pie, white beans and bacon, and an awesome black pepper sauce. (The recipes can be found here: http://www.innatthecrossroads.com/)

"Well, I don't really think that the end can be assessed as of itself as being the end because what does the end feel like? It's like saying when you try to extrapolate the end of the universe, you say, if the universe is indeed infinite, then how - what does that mean? How far is all the way, and then if it stops, what's stopping it, and what's behind what's stopping it? So, what's the end, you know, is my question to you."

Spent the majority of the afternoon alternatively being snuggled by a mass of beautiful women, and discussing steampunk.
It was a good day.

Thank you. It's based on Brian Froud's goblin designs =]
I'm happy today because a very close friend of mine has agreed to design my tatoos. I want a pair of cameos on my shoulder blades, with H P Lovecraft and Oscar Wilde references in the designs =]. She's a great artist. It's a shame she no longer does tatooing, so I'll have to find someone else to do the inking but I still get to have her art on my back =]
I'm also happy because I managed to make some progress on my thesis.

Yay! I may have to watch it again this week myself!
I'm happy today because uni realised that giving me the same deadline for a piece of work as people who had had one month longer to do it, was unfair and gave me an extention =] without me even having to fill out the usual 3 forms and beg half a department sharade =]

I went to visit my very close female friend this weekend at the halfway house. There were some things that had really been bugging me the last few weeks that she didn't know her ex (who is trying to worm his way back into her life) had said about her while they were still dating. We had very frank conversation about him and how he treated her and the likely consequences of allowing him to continue influencing her life. She said she was absolutely livid with him now (her words, not mine) over the things he said to me about her. She seems to realize now that he just wants to control and use her and he will end up causing her to relapse into addiction to maintain that control if she lets him. So she's making progress.
Also while I was there, she introduced me to one of her bunk mates, who thanked me for caring enough to take care of my friend.
I know all the pitfalls of being stuck in the friend zone, but this time it doesn't matter to me. It's an odd feeling to realize that you love someone enough that you just want them to be happy regardless of whether that happiness includes sharing your life or not. I would be overjoyed if we eventually end up as more than friends, but even if we don't, I'm actually OK with that. We've both been honest enough with one another that there isn't any uncertainty on how the other feels right now. The future is in God's hands.

Been living in the GAH of being jobless and close to broke....but in it found the most amazing thing ever. My cupboards and freezer have been full of foods that really didn't seem to go together or that I didn't know how to cook, so for the past 5 days I have been cooking a different meal every night. May be my genetics from my mom but my fiance and I are both in total awe. Ended up making chicken tonight with cheap fatty bacon....the end result was perhaps the flavorful chicken I have ever had. Not sure though if it tops the Italian/Cajun fusion venison from two nights ago. Also got an offer from a friend of mine who owns several antique shops to paint signs for him to sell and then split the profit. I'm agreeing to it because it's a chance to do my art (in some form) and not have to pay to have it displayed for sale. I'm also going to ask him about possibly doing the same with steampunk stuff as he is giving scrap wood now and I know he has other scraps that he has tossed in the past. I am getting half of his store front in town.

Back in December, I was in London for a really big, important, official test of Japanese. I tried level 2, if you pass that one it means your Japanese is good enough to be able to work and live in Japan. As in, officially, government-declared high enough level.
Today, I got this really weird envelope in the mail, and when I opened it, it was my results and certificate, because
I PASSED!!!!
I`m so happy I can cry!
