Our Family has grown by one Our new Grand-Daughter! Congratulations! I've got very mixed emotions today, some good and some bad, but I'm trying to convince myself that I'm happy and leave the negativity behind. A person who I used to count as a close friend has finally gotten what was coming to him; he'll be behind bars for the next decade, and honestly he deserves a lot longer than that. But the process of revisiting those memories is painful, so while I am happy that justice has been served I'm also feeling a bit down.

"Well, I don't really think that the end can be assessed as of itself as being the end because what does the end feel like? It's like saying when you try to extrapolate the end of the universe, you say, if the universe is indeed infinite, then how - what does that mean? How far is all the way, and then if it stops, what's stopping it, and what's behind what's stopping it? So, what's the end, you know, is my question to you."

Sometimes it's the little things one needs, and since I moved it seems that locally there's more good than bad. The only bad really seems to be unsettled issues that occasionally rain down from New York. However, a friend called today, and has invited my other half and I over for dinner, her treat (she's a wonderful cook), all we have to do is supply the wine and the coffee...and we're in for a night of watching The Walking Dead.
And also, congratulations to Mr. Birdnest!

This made me laugh today... While talking to my mom, who just got back from many meetings in Hawaii, I asked her "How was Hawaii?" She said, " I was bored by the second day. It's just like Florida except for the volcanoes." So there's Hawaii's new tourism slogan - "Just like Florida, but with volcanoes.."

I had dinner today. Fish & chips! After two days where I couldn't eat anything, it was heaven! Also it means, I'm well again.

My sentiments exactically. My brother and I are going skiing tomorrow. Between distance, jobs and family it's been over a decade since we last got the chance. Check the Gaaah tomorrow. If I have the energy I may report on the physical wreck that results.

I'm getting over a breakup, and have been having kind of a blue day. After 30 minutes on Brass Goggles looking at projects people are working on, getting inspired by all the creative talent here, I'm feeling much better. So today, this forum is what's making me happy. Congrats, Birdnest! Also good news, Evelyn Adler. I know the feeling.

Oh, you are beautiful! No really, you are, you're gorgeous! Space-age clockwork, I love it, I've got chills! Listen, I mean this from the heart - and by the way, count those - it would be a crime, it would be an act of vandalism to disassemble you.
But that won't stop me.

I finally managed to wrestle my room into being a haven of tranquility and a suitable work environment (this involved lots of lugging things about, hammering, climbing on unsafe furniture, unpacking and repacking things yesterday).
For the first time sine July I am sitting at a desk, in my bedroom, able to work on my thesis =] It's my own personal bit of heaven.
Currently surrounded by books about Victorian cemeteries and human and animal bone studies. It's strangely comforting- having all that knowledge at hand even if some of it is precariously balanced and likely to fall onto my head!

My stock room is looking a little bit more full, which is good, since there is just about a month until my first outside trading event!

Aside from my train-related Gah!!!, my trip down to London was pretty good. Had an interview with an architectural practice which I think would be absolutely wonderful to work for, were I offered the job, and spent a fairly interesting half hour talking with the senior partner of said practice about Classical architecture and architectural conservation. Which beats by far the alternative version of my day- which would have been eight hours of scanning.... detritus, is about the most polite word I can think of to describe it,... off of a trolley and on to a shelf.

Persons intending to travel by open carriage should select a seat with their backs to the engine, by which means they will avoid the ashes emitted therefrom, that in travelling generally, but particularly through the tunnels, prove a great annoyance; the carriage farthest from the engine will in consequence be found the most desirable.

I am only in minor pain after skiing since we both took it easy. My brother and I had a great visit. The sky was blue. The air was warm. The snow was... was... ... well, porridge really. But otherwise it was a great day.

Picked up newly altered trousers, had a haircut off my favourite hairdresser, made myself an early lunch of a bacon and egg sarnie (egg just perfect too! Runny, but not too much that it decorated my fingers), got Classic Rock on the radio, and it looks like it's going to snow (I LOVE snow!). May just make a start on Bessie's stablemate, Doris.

Its NOT snowing here, nor will it snow; in fact the forecast is for a pleasantly warm day, with a high of 83 Fahrenheit, which the internet tells me is about 28 Celsius. So warm with some clouds. That makes me very happy, especially with all this talk of snow.

A person worthy of being called a fuddy-duddy would be one described best as a fussy old-fashioned person. My happiness today came from walking through the Farmer's Market in town today, for well over an hour, catching up with folks and having a good time of it.
