I got an unexpected fifty dollar refund from LL Bean in the mail.. The slippers my mom bought me for Christmas were too small, we sent them back and got the right size..evidentially they were on sale and I got a check for the difference!

That is awesome! I have almost gotten all the details of an apartment worked out for my move back to Texas...that, and the fact that the lady I have been conversing with in the office there has been very friendly and helpful, I am pretty happy right now.

I just acquired studded tires for the pickup ... bring it on Ma Nature! Bwahahaha I found out before that the truck will plow through 18 inches of oatmeal snow ... barely. I now have 20 inches and ice at the Birdnest.

SOPA and PIPA were dropped, mostly due to the internet protests.
Also, a fella in China who censors their version of Twitter made some VERY encouraging comments about the NEED for political comments.
Congress said they were gonna waltz through our Internet. And we choked 'em with those words. We've done the impossible, and that makes us mighty.

Comparing SOPA and PIPA to Serenity Valley. I'm not sure if I should roll my eyes or be incredibly proud. All I know is they can never shut us down, not completely. Because we are so very, very pretty.

How far is all the way, and then if it stops, what's stopping it, and what's behind what's stopping it? So, what's the end, you know, is my question to you."

SOPA and PIPA were dropped, mostly due to the internet protests. Smith has withdrawn SOPA - for now. Reid has postponed PIPA. Both incredibly good news, but it won't do to become complacent. As noted at Mashable: "To review, then: SOPA and PIPA are dead, but only in the way a zombie is dead." Keep your guard up.

It's certain I was that regardless, they would be back sooner rather than later, and we'd have to stay on our guard-still, this is a small victory. Ain't the war, but it is THAT particular battle. And that IS worth celebrating. But, like I said on my facebook-we hold!

I had a new portrait done today, and it turned out quite well. This has made me quite happy, since my father was the photographer and I did the post-production work...

Good work Edmund. Not sure exactly why this is making me happy, but I got threatened by a chav for something my fiance said to his friend. (the psycho ex) Well I ended up responding with very short and unemotional responses. The time her ex threatened me, it was much the same, except I got bored and started acting like him and I had a relationship. It feels very good having self-control.

I'm not entirely sure why that made you happy Mr. Oakes, but your telling of it made me chuckle...so I suppose that makes me happy???
Also,
I had a wonderful time with my father today hiking (through the snow) and geocaching. This has made me quite happy, as time spent with my father is always fun.

Just send off a draft of my PhD funding applciation and requests for references.
I've really been struggling with Uni for the last month and It's nice to finally do something positive.
It's made me realise how much I love my research and want to continue with it.
I just hope I can get the dreaded GIS coursework finished today as well! Still I've only got 500 words to write now!

Is that GIS as in Geographic Information System? If I may ask sir, what is the field of your study? I am attempting to finish an anthropology degree with a focus in archaeology, and GIS systems are quite useful in the archaeology field.
The weather has warmed up today, and that makes me happy. I used to love this cold, northeastern weather...but I've spent too much time in warmer climates and I find I no longer like the cold and the snow...so the warmth today is quite pleasing.

Worker's Comp FINALLY called me back today. I've only been calling THEM since just after Thanksgiving!
It's about bleedin' time, and now, MAYBE I can get some relief from this pain.
Also, I made more egg salad-this time with Celery Salt! It is quite nice!

I'm an archaeologist too; hence I thought taking the module would be useful. It was a bad idea for me because I'm barely computer literate! =P How is your degree going? Also on a side note I'm not a sir... at least not the last time I checked! I thought the icon picture gave it away hehe! I understand though; all archaeologists are bearded middle aged men in stripy jumpers right? Does that apply to Anthropologists too?

My apologies madam. I must admit I did not look very closely at your icon. I'm not sure about the stereotype fitting with anthropologists, since most of the "anthropology" majors I've met/worked with are all continuing on to become archaeologists. In the US to major in archaeology you must get a degree in anthropology (they consider it a sub-category of anthropology here). I actually considered going to school in England (there's a number of schools there I looked at) because that would allow me to simply focus in archaeology. Sadly I was not able to work out the funding for that. My degree would go better if I could get back into college...I took a 7-year hiatus from university to join the US Air Force. It was fun, but now that I'm trying to get back into school, it's proving to be...bothersome. I'm hoping to start back in the fall at the University of Texas in San Antonio. Another two years should finish up my bachelors, and then I should have just enough funding to do a masters as well. EDIT: Also, I made my first attempt at sweet potato pie tonight...and it seems to have turned out well...this makes me happy!

And I suppose remembering how much you enjoy my cooking makes me happy...although I shall be happier when I'm back in Texas again, where I can cook for you (and all my other "crazy" friends there) until you're tired of my cooking (or we all pass out from too much booze, which ever happens first)...

A strange dream I had. Part of me is actually wondering if it was a bit more than that. It was full of symbolic imagery and period violence (probably ca. 1400's) and according to my fiance I was talking in my sleep.

Oooo. I need to do this also. Always liked the idea of a chainmail shirt. And I consider myself to be patient, but there's thousands of rings in a shirt.
