I've been asked to be the GM for a gaming session next Monday. It's been almost three months since I've had a chance to play on either side of the table. It currently looks like we have sitters for the kids, so we should be able to have something close to 8-10 hours of gaming time available to us. Now I just have to go find a fun way to almost, but not quite, kill my friends and family members. Honey?!? How are we set for Mountain Dew and snacks?

"Well, I don't really think that the end can be assessed as of itself as being the end because what does the end feel like? It's like saying when you try to extrapolate the end of the universe, you say, if the universe is indeed infinite, then how - what does that mean? How far is all the way, and then if it stops, what's stopping it, and what's behind what's stopping it? So, what's the end, you know, is my question to you."

I have had my uke for less than 10 hours, and I can already play "Soul Sister," "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald," "Hero of Canton," 12 Bar Blues, "1234 (Feist)," and am working on "Autumn Leaves."
NOT to mention my "7th Jam in the Key of Awesome." (Original Uke Jazz Jam I came up with when at the traffic light at Stratford and Healy for... oh, probably 10-15min).

Post video proof, or it didn't happen!! I plan to record Hero of Canton on the uke, as well as loop 7th Jam... As for the others, I may do Wreck of the Edmund, but 1234 is a PAIN to play and sing... Not to mention the ONLY way to do Autumn Leaves would be to loop the main chords, and then jazz improv over them. You know this to be true...

Got an early xmas pressie today...a Deerstalker (looks great with a pair of goggles ). Went on The Father Christmas Steam Special yesterday, it was pulled by "The Sherwood Forester" (asked my Coglet, would he like to drive the train, he replied..."Noooo! it's too big". "How about an IoM train then"?, "Thats the right size for me!")

Oddly enough a serious of horrible cooking accidents made me happy tonight. Had dinner at my fiance's family's house. Pretty much everything that could go wrong did, but most of it was the result of us having conversations instead of paying attention to the food. It was the first time I've ever been in a relationship where I got along with the family.... Although now we definitely have to get the house even more superb so we can return the favor.

Picked up my newly shortened FLB trousers that match a waistcoat I bought from them back in February. That's tomorrow night's clothes sorted. That, and using my scientific nerdiness, thinking up and recording a series of science questions for a local radio station.

<snip>I plan to record Hero of Canton on the uke...</snip> If you're already playing "Hero of Canton", you ought give some of the other Bedlam Bards songs a try as well. One of my favorites is "Hush Now Little Citizen: Lullabye for a Sonambulant Public". Yeah, it's a mouthful, but the song itself is pretty good, and just about dead-on about referring to how government leaders view the masses. Just my $0.02.

I get to see my brother, sister in law and nephew later =]
Then it's off to my auntie's for Christmas with my mum. I even get to meet my cousins new baby =]
Going to be a great family Christmas- away from the internet for the next 4 days.
So I'll say it early:
Merry Christmas to you all!

Thanks to super glue, where I cut my pinky knuckle open yesterday is very nearly healed back closed. I sliced it right neat along a vein... Bled like no cut I've ever had, and that's a fact! Nearly two dozen band-aids, half as many butterfly banages, and some super glue later, and it's FINALLY good again!

Got my (German) jobseekers allowance sorted, I am now officially registered as looking for a job in the UK and everyone was so super nice, I just can't get over it! (Visiting a German jobcentre is like that scene from Evelyn there was a change in attitude as I saw it, by the benefits people here, a few years ago. The staff are now indeed pleasant and polite - to your face- I think enough people must have complained about rudeness for extra training to be brought in. Doesn't mean they won't stab you in the back, though. The Doctor who 'assessed' me for suitability for Incapacity Benefit was very very polite, but did not even look at my bad leg. He worked from a script on his computer.

I know how to check and double-check if things are going the way I need them to. And I'm very patient. For me as a German it is a huge difference from what I'm used to. No matter where I am, I'm constantly surprised at how friendly and polite people are. I'm simply not used to smiling shop assistants and the like...

She's across the pond, mate. Here, retail sucks the soul from the worker! So true! I got out of it just in time; I was starting to become a customer's worst nightmare. Sadly, the customers and my managers were driving me towards it; I'm really very nice ordinarily. As for things making me happy, were do I start? I have over a week off from work. I won't be back in the office until January 3rd! I get to spend Christmas at home with my family, which is something that I don't appreciate often enough. I got to spend a fun afternoon playing Magic with some friends, which I don't get to do nearly enough, and things stayed cool despite some intense personalities there. And last but not least, I didn't get a ticket today! A cop pulled me over, and there was really no way to argue with him; I knew how fast I'd been going and so did he. But he decided to just write me warning and let me go; seriously a ticket is the last thing I need right now. So now, despite putting up with some extended "family" that I loath, I'd doing incredibly well.

It`s my birthday today =D and we`re eating nikujaga and gyoza and I`ll also be making yoghurt-pineapple-pie, which all makes me very happy as well. And 2 of my friends gave me the Peter Pan book and an old Sherlock Holmes movie yesterday (and I got "the second book of general ignorance" and all the brother Grimm stories in one book from my housemates. People know me too well XD)
I also have official confirmation that I have the internship, which is at the Floriade in 2012. The Floriade is a huge world exposition that`s held every 10 years here in the Netherlands, which makes it all the more awesome that I get to do my internship there.
