I've just been looking at the nice hand drawn map and thought that it's worth pointing out that the car park behind Waitrose is one of those ones where it's free if you shop there as there is a chap in a little hut on the exit who checks the tickets and it gets shut just after closing time for the shop (8pm on a Saturday)which could be difficult if you leave it til later as they do put a big post in that makes exit unfeasible in a car.

Thanks for that - I've also updated the map to show Worcester Park Baptist Church car park - they have very kindly offered their car park for the exclusive use of steampunks attending the convivial on the 25th - all day and all night Free Parking!

All the venues are on the same bus route...which is also a night bus, so it might be worth considering leaving your iron steed there and pressing your oyster card into service. I have been speaking to London Transport about the possibility of some vintage buses to serve the route, which will not happen this time around, but looks to be a possibility in the future.  Smiley

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement...I think it might be worth doing something similar again...but with more Kraken hunting next time! Plans are cooking already, and it might not be a yearly thing...perhaps a little sooner? We'll see. Oh - and the winners of the raffle are numbers 23 and 07.

If the winners would like to get in touch, I shall have a small team of clockwork rats hand deliver the prizes.

Maybe we could do it twice a year? In October for example – gives people something to look forward to, once the Asylum is over.
And I volunteer to help… foster the baby kraken, organise things and such. We can’t have you working day and night, can we?Smiley

Quote
"The V-sign dates from Norman times, when it was a ribald display by British archers to show the French that they still had their bow fingers, which would have been severed were they captured"

*coughmadeupstorycough*

that 'historical fact' didn't begin to circulate until the mid nineteen-seventies..

I completely agree that two digits are better than one..as do certain other eminent Brits

Now if we could only locate the owner of ticket number 7...

Whilst we wait, for anyone even remotely interested, here is that videographic music-o-gram thing we knocked together for the Convivial.

(In the link below, I think)

I believe Sir Cubinoid meant this one:

Pageants, Curls, Ribbons and Bows

...which is absolutely amazing by the way.
I was surprised to recognise the actor as the charming Gentleman from the convivial, who was accompanied by the two young ladies in constant danger of certain assets falling out of their respective corsets.  Roll Eyes

Yes, I was a tad confused by a photo of the lovely Esther flicking the Vs at me! Turns out it wasn't meant for me after all..
Although I like the idea of re-naming Willoughby 'Squiffy'. Has a nice ring to it when you greet him with a hearty "What-Ho, Squiffy!"

I suspect I can cope with Squiffy, from friends.

Puts me in mind of Jeeves and Wooster, with the good eggs such as; Biffy Biffen, Beefy Bingham, Chuffy Chuffnell, Gussie Fink-Nottle, Boko Fittleworth, Barmy Fotheringay Phips, Tuppy Glossop, Bingo Little and Stinker Pinker.

I was thinking more along the lines of...
"Morning, Squadron Leader".

"What Ho, Squiffy!"

"How was it?"

"Top hole! Bally Jerry, pranged his kite right in the how's-your-father; hairy blighter, dicky-birded, feathered back on his sammy, took a waspy, flipped over on his Betty Harpers and caught his can in the Bertie".
