Just trying to get a good 'hero' shot of the gun with it's internal lighting - this one's not too bad.

That is rather wonderful, I'd been joking about a Warhammer Crossover with Steam Punk technologies. Your combination of a chainsaw and projectile weapon is rather wonderful though awful heavy to carry any range.

Ah, but thanks to the cunning combination of an underarm stock (for leverage against the front-heavy chainsaw), a shoulder strap and the use of 'plastic' (the new Bakelite) the gun's actually quite comfortable to carry - and if it does get too much for the more 'effete' gentleman, then the chainsaw (and stock) are detatchable thus leaving you with a handy lightweight pistol ...I thank you

With apologies to Bleak Expectations, what you need is a machine gun, a gun which fires machines, in this case chainsaws

Just trying to get a good 'hero' shot of the gun with it's internal lighting - this one's not too bad. It is a fine shot of the gun, (which is most excellent, by the way.) but a terrible shot of your stove and fireplace. (which looks as though it might be equally good.)

Niiice The butt is fixed in the one position due to the original fixing method on the Nerf gun - I didn't really see the need to make it so it could flip over, since all the leverage at the front of the gun in downwards when you have the chainsaw attached. Also, the cocking handle is easier to use when it's lower so it's a bit of a 'shoot from the hip' kinda gun.

Bleak Expectations is definitely Steampunk, it inspired me to build a cannon cane, and from there a whole cluster of bizarre system canes. My interest in the Absorbaloff's cane is therefore more than casual. The 'machine' gun comes from that same episode where Harry Biscuit take out a Martian Walker by firing a spinning jenny at it, followed closely by a piano.
Harrumble! favourite episode, where Mr Gently Benevolent undermines London, attaches balloons to it and threatens to float it across the channel and sell it to the French. The Major has of course worked with GB himself.
Shoggi, you need a magazine, at least five chainsaws as ammo, any Zombie on the receiving end of that, would certainly think twice.

My latest device: The Harkness Temporal Chronometer Mk1. and the internal lighting: Copies (although not exact copies due to the individual parts used) can be made for £140-160 - each one will be unique.

I really really really need to add a chainsaw to my steampunk arm. Really really really need to.
People who make cool things that I want to "borrow" ideas from for my own projects, need to not do that... It makes me take way longer to finish things.

a matched set of unique ones would probably clash anyways. In a violent, death grip "que the star trek fight music" kind of way.
you need to add a cheap chinese cellphone wrist watch to your temporal device, then double the price! then maybe I would get so jealous, I would finally finish my pocket watch. damn thing sits at the back of the workbench and just stares at me with utter contempt, the bastard.

I'm not trying to be that guy, I'm genuinely curious (I could probably look it up, but it's more fun asking you directly)
Does all that clockwork actually function? it certainly looks like it could.

That is a superb chronometer! As is the rest of the stuff on your website. Just wanted to add my praise to that already spoken.
Also, I second the working-clockwork-question. It definitely looks functional at least!

The mechanism in the Chronometer is purely for show on this one - budget didn't really permit the time to play around with functioning clockwork - but I'm quite sure I could make one that 'worked'. At the simplest level it would be easy enough to incorporate a working watch into the design. I've got a number of other ideas I'd like to explore now I've started dabbling in this genre - it's really got my creative juices flowing And no - I haven't heard of the gentleman you mention but I'll have a look out for his stuff. I've seen a number of non-fuctioning 'replicas' of nice Steampunk pistols etc, but they sound like they're quite delicate?
