We would be pleased to offer The Governess, and partner, the share of our Hansom cab return journey in the small hours of Sunday the 11th. We are heading back to St.Irchley, so can pass through the Heath of Kings en route.

That would be most kind, thank you, sir!
(let's now see if I can rustle up a companion!)

...And it looks like Steamblast Mary will be providing the glamour for the evening, so if that's OK, we'd both like to share the taxi back, please!

No problem at all, roll on Saturday!

Great to meet you and your lovely other half at the weekend, sir!
Sorry we wimped out on you before the end of the night... My advancing years, you know how it is! Hope we'll see you both again soon; possibly even at...

... the Destroyers Xmas party, 22nd Dec, Moseley, Prince of Wales pub. They were wonderful at the Town Hall; I bought my ticket for this immediately. Anyone else up for it?

No apology is warranted by any means madam, it was a late one by all standards. Unfortunately for me, I am indentured to the demon rhythm and all his cohorts, and also exceptionally partial to to the acrid tang of the bitter end.

It was indeed a great night at the Town Hall. I'd love to be able to follow it up with another outing, but alas, another duty calls. I am away from the sun kissed tropical shores of St.Irchley until the 23rd.

My loss too I think, as I'd somewhat be amazed to see how the 14 piece auditory explosion that is The Destoyers is even going to FIT into the postage stamp that is The Prince of Wales, let alone play there. Have a splendid time, and we hope to catch up in the New Year.

However, if it snows between now and then, the demon may be getting his due again!

you think they can't fit in the Prince of Wales?  At Glastonbury it appears that they managed to fit into a gazebo...

Confirmed date for B'ham visit to see the new Sherlock Holmes film at the Electric Cinema, station street (right by the station; there's handy) on 27th December.  Currently wrangling a confirmed time:  either 3pm or 6pm atm, to allow people to use public transport... place your vote...

Facebook event is here for those of you that face.  No other info than the above, though, so if you don't face, there's no loss of info...

Hmmn.. I've just had a look at this band online, and they do seem darned interesting - although not whom I thought they were.  As soon as I saw the name 'Destroyers' I assumed that George Thorogood and the Destroyers was meant!

I shall give this careful consideration and see if I can amble over to Mosely for this gig.

My dad saw them play in a garden shed- the Prince of Wales should be no problem!

Sadly I'll be on a train to Rutland or I would be there.

The Destroyers were wonderful. Again. Although my feet hurt from time spent in the klezhmer mosh pit, and the subsequent walk home.

So... who's going to start the "Spring 2012" events thread?

There's two events confirmed already: the Stuff Swap and "The Knicker Lady" http://brassgoggles.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,34350.msg745490.html#new, plus there's interest in another day out on the Severn Valley Railway... diaries are filling up fast.

Andre O'Neil's playing The Old Joint Stock 8th and 9th of February, apparently. That sounds like a good possibility for a get-together!

Persons intending to travel by open carriage should select a seat with their backs to the engine, by which means they will avoid the ashes emitted therefrom, that in travelling generally, but particularly through the tunnels, prove a great annoyance; the carriage farthest from the engine will in consequence be found the most desirable.

Thanks for the heads-up, I'll see about cross-posting that in the WMSA.

Who would like to go and see the Leonardo da Vinci exhibition at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery?  And which date would best suit?

I ask as I'm determined to get to it and the thought occurred to me it might be the beginnings of an afternoon meet up in February/ March.

That sounds like a splendid idea! As to date... early March would probably suit us best, preferably not a weekend.

Interested, date permitting. Better go ahead and decide a date and I'll see if I can fit in with it (life is such a social whirlwind *dramatically applies back of hand to brow*

Count me in - no preference for date, as my diaery for the next two months is empty :-}
