In November, not bothered when
In Nov, but limited to a specific weekend...
In Jan or Feb.
No preference
What's a swap anyway?

Tis indeed only fair that the organiser, organises in their home town and those who wish to attend can. those who wish to have one in another venue can "organise" one some other time Smiley

Im coming from Edinburgh and its my choice to join in and travel for more than 6 hours.  Looking forward to dates so  we can book a day off  work for travel.

Oh and have found STUFF that's very appropriate.   Grin

right. I set this thread up asking for preferred dates. The majority of those posting also expressed a preference for B'ham as a venue, although we hadn't got to that stage yet.

I personally prefer B'ham as I live there and it makes it much easier for me to organise. I appreciate that some prefer east mids and some have no preference. I can't please everyone.

I therefore suggest that I will arrange a swap in the new year (Feb, which is winning in the vote) in Birmingham. Those in the east mids are, of course, entirely at liberty to set up their own event at a location to suit.

Thanks for your comments, all.

All okay Smiley Inner city is so hard to get to anywhere really, but then I understand not everyone has a car.

I have one, but it is old and we lost the cables to plus it in to update it! And they don't account for confusing roads in the flesh! WE really need a new one but other shiny things call to me...  Smiley

ooh I'm up for this again - got the train last time and as long as I remember not to wear the giant coat that weighs a ton, and do wear comfy(er) shoes the walk is ok. Although Space Centre wld be good for another time - there's a thread for a Leicester Meet looking for a venue for their market ...?

not sure what I've got to swap but am up for it anyway!

I guess we'd better start thinking about dates for this: so, February.

Last year was the last weekend of the month.
This year there's another steampunk swing night in Birmingham on 25th of Feb, if people wanted to make a full day of it. We also need to look at other Feb events (such as Madame Steamblast's birthday!) to look for possible clashes or synergies...

Well, if I can make it, I'll certainly be there. Can't believe the amount of "stuff" I have accumulated that I don't really wear any longer. Or bought thinking it would be a good idea and never got around to doing anything with.

A-ha! Operation New Year Clear-Out has turned up lots of items of potential interest already (3 days in and two bags full already  Undecided) so this is very timely.

I guess we'd better start thinking about dates for this: so, February.
... We also need to look at other Feb events (such as Madame Steamblast's birthday!)

I hope people can make it - it doesn't matter if you have nothing to swap - although you may surprise yourself.  Stuff that can be modded also counts - think of it as having a clear out, and what doesn't go goes to the charity shops so everyone wins.

And we were also looking at including books, cds, dvds, sealing wax, string and other fancy stuff if people feel up for it...

as we have so far to travel (so must take lodgings in Birmingham) and my husband must work every second weekend, we need advanced warning of dates, so he can book in for time off or swap weekends.. I fear we are running short of time for this as 4 weeks notice is the usual requirement.

is there any further decision on a date?

I do agree that as one can not please all people, then a date must be picked and those that can attend, will. I feel that leaving the date announcement too long, could reduce the number, able to attend, as they accept invitations to events received earlier???

I think I have STUFF... lol

Stuff is good!
In terms of dates, I was hoping a few more would express a preference, as only a very few have so far.  Which could, of course, mean that they don't have a preference...

A final alternative would be for Saturday 3rd March - as yet, I can't see any events for that one.
Assuming I can get a/ the venue, how would that suit people?

In order to reserve the venue I have to pay a deposit, which comes back out of any food/ drink bought on the day - so I have to be sure enough people will be going for me to make my money back...

so please speak NOW!!

We are happy for any day, it is far enough in advance to book a day off work.

Any days are good enough for me. Are you including cabbages and kings along with the sealing wax etc?

I don't know how much stuff I've got to bring, not much I don't think, but I'm sure I can dig out something or other ....
