I do somehow doubt uphill Lincoln will flood though

And it's unlikely to pool ON the hills but those at the bottom better watch out.

Those near the bottom should always watch out, especially when Vix lays on cubes of Chilli Cheese, or Mini Curry Pasties.

Brakes are unnecessary weight on a racing Death Scooter, there are plenty of soft, malleable spectators to slow you down when you need them. Grin

Steampunk has infantry, dirigible corp and balloon corp and the like, perhaps we need a Death Scooter Cavalry Unit, the Lancers.

That sounds like a sterling idea!
That said, our valiant steed last year was so slow that it was overtaken by Lincoln Castle so I can't see us being much of a threat...
I keep telling myself that it was the taking part that counted.  *much gnashing of teeth*

I am working on some way of increasing the speed of my steam scooter so that it suitable for the Steam Lancers. Current thoughts lean towards rocket boosters to achieve appropriate speed for the charge. The only problem I have identified so far is that anyone in the ranks behind would lose eyebrows and any other facial hair!

Hi all. I had previously booked "twin bedded, en-suite room,  on Bed & Breakfast terms of £60.00  per night at the special rate of 3 nights for the price of 2 giving a total cost of £120.00 for the nights of 07, 08 & 09 September 2012." at the Tennyson Guest House in Lincoln; it's in South Park.

I am not going to need this room now so before I cancel it, is there anyone out there who would like to take over the booking? Not sure how this would work but I haven't spoken to them yet and guess they will be happy to have someone else to take it over. Can you message me or let me know if you would like it as I should let them know fairly shortly in all fairness.

My wife and I are travelling across the pond for the Asylum (and to have a bit of a holiday).

Not being familiar with the environs, is there anything I should know? I believe we will be renting a car, but I don't know what's available for lodging, eating, etc. Any tips from previous years?

I can't wait to meet everyone.

Book a room, NOW. Seriously. Lodging will be your biggest challenge. Otherwise, The Asylum is great. I will be there. Everyone is really friendly.

As Wilhelmina says, book a room NOW. Try to book a room in or near the Bailgate area (or at least within reasonable waklking distance, bearing in mind that this area is on top odf a steep hill) where much of the event will be taking place). Check that they have car parking space available for guests, as cheap parking is somewhat limited inn the event area.

Don't worry about places to eat out - there are plenty of pubs and restaurants serving food in the area.

If you have any questions when you get to Lincoln just ask at your lodgings - or ask the nearest steampunk, of which there will be lots!

Welcome to the family!
Are you going to be travelling around either side of Asylum? let us know as many Inmates of the Asylum will be happy to show you their parts of the country too.

You have time to eat?
When?

It never even occurred to out small party that this was an option -- we always:-
   binge breakfast,
   famine daytime,
   binge late evening,
sleep poorly (exitement and sore feet),
   repeat for the duration!

We drive on the left over here and have strange islands in the middle of the Queen's highway called roundabouts. Wink

But seriously, welcome. As has already been said accommodation is your main problem as will be parking at the accommodation (if you are looking at a guest house in the bailgate area).

For those of you coming to the Asylum at Lincoln a bit early, the Lincoln Steampunk Society meets upstairs in the Widow Cullen's Well on Steep Hill on The Bailgate on Wednesdays, see you there!
