applied for stewarding! Horay!

I downloaded the form, but I don't have any previous experience or qualifications (like first aid) so I'm not sure it's worth applying.

Still going to go, though. Definitely this time  Undecided

We are booked into the same place: somewhat above our normal grade: but I like the bailhouse.
I was hoping to get bailhouse self-catering for 2012 but that part was already fully booked when I phoned. So for a slight change we'll be in the room opposite to the one we had this year - same standard, slightly different selection of furniture.  And they were asking £10 a night LESS for those 2 ground-floor rooms for 2012 than we paid this time.
We don't normally book that high a grade either.

I'm already planning a hat for 2012 - I'm going to Jema Hewitt's petite millinery workshop next month to learn how.

Great: me too - I am lying awake nights thinking about hats. Comments were made about the largeness of the hat I have worn for the past two years in my role as Dame High Adjudicator of the Clockwork races. I simply cannot let such commentary pass without attempting to stun them into silence with bigger and better. A suggestion from our colonial cousins across the pond is to go telescopic, which I think has some considerable potential, not  least since whatever it is has to be transported by train.

based on the last 3 years, I think that the governess and I will be in attendance. Especially as lodging are already sorted. :-)

The family will finally be attending this year.  The Mechanic and I are quite excited.  The girls are not as of yet... however that is because we are trying to hold off and surprise them at Christmas with the news.  We may not make it that long!

Will bishop grot rooms be available again in 2012? it worked fine for me and I liked the price, especially if there may be shuttle service!

what would be really cool would be if someone know anyone who has  a landau or horse drawn carraige service that could for a fee taxi people between bishop grott and the castle

There is a horse and cart that gives rides around the cathedral, but unless we pay more than the tourists do, it wouldn't be worth his while, surely?

We could ask him, he is a lovely man, I'm pretty sure if we could give him vague numbers of us, he'd happily oblige. Afterall, he didn't seem to have alot of business on the Saturday of the Asylum, and think of how many tourists there were then!

I THINK I am looking forward to this. Having had two days of meetings in Lincoln, we now have a plan. Just awaiting confirmation of some of the acts we want to put on for you all. So all is more or less in place. Just the brass to apply and then give it all a good polish.

Then to find outfits for all features, but that can wait a bit.

So do not panic we have months to get this sorted.

I'm 'phoning our accomodation today to book well in advance. And, possibly, for 4 nights this time as well.

I have begun a map for featured venues and other recommendations, I will be posting this to the main website soon.

If you have suggestions for map locations, please pm or email me.

We also have apps coming for both Android and iPhone, containing details of the event, maps, programme etc.

Watch this space and the Asylum website for details.

A wise decision. For information, the Tower Hotel is filling up fast - When I booked yesterday the receptionist thought this might be due to the University holding a graduation ceremony -Not sure if they took it all on board when I put them right......

You got me worried there as I booked through LateRooms and didn't get a confirmation from the Tower themselves. Just rang to confirm, and it seems we might be getting a bigger room than the one we booked because they're running out. \o/

Well I suppose i'd better drag my lazy carcass over to Lincoln in 2012. It's such a chore though.

Accommodation already booked and awaiting paypal details for deposit.

I still need to send in my application for the GDS duelling competition which has been quite popular these past 2 years, but I'll do that this evening. Oh and that reminds me, the application forms still aren't opening for me in DocX format and I'm using the most up to date version of Word so I dunno if it needs to be addressed as the PDF is read only. I'll get something down even if it isn't on the official application form or a scanned handwritten one or something of that ilk.

Well..I'll be a....what the.....

'Phoned the apartments we used this year to book for next and the rooms have GONE! They've gone to people who are apparently attanding Asylum and overheard a conversation about the rooms whilst at the pub this year. Well that's according to the owner anyway...

Oh dear.

So, I've booked us in to The Tower. Grin Grin Grin

I'm looking to try new accommodation this year. My usual is perfectly good, but I wanted to be nearer the Bailgate area and without the uphill walk.

Now to start working outfits for next year - not just for myself but also for Mrs Engineer this time Smiley

Booked into The Tower this year, horrified that the 'improvements' to The Castle removed every bit of charm and whimsy that hotel had and increased prices to accomodate it. It is now like ever other hotel everywhere.

I would definitely recommend Brown's pieshop, the Commodore his good lady and myself ate all the pies before the Dead Dog on Sunday. It set us up for a super evening.
