Joe 'The Dark Power' Slatter and I are planning on putting together a three piece (or possibly 4 if we can find a keybaord player. Maybe.) band with which to play my music.

It can be heard here: http://www.tomslatter.co.uk

We're looking for a drummer.

We both live in London.

Anyone fancy it? Or know someone who might?

Please come and kidnap the awful drummer that plays in a back garden near our house, please, please take him away!

Not much use to you that, sorry!

No help either

Is the UK like my area in the US?  It is hard to keep a good drummer, let alone find one.

Not much use, but it did make me laugh.

There are drummers out there. The problem is finding a drummer who's into the steampunk thing and is happy to play steampunky acousticish progressive indie.

I would suggest an ad on Gumtree but don't be too specific on the steampunk thing as it will confuse people and put others off. In my experience you'd be better off disguising it as a genre potential drummers will recognise.

We struggled to find a drummer, came to the conclusion that as long as there was a beat, that was the main thing; and ended up with the lovely Mr Inkerman on bodhran.  He's much more portable too
I was also impressed with Frenchy and the Punk's technique - she sings, he plays a guitar, they both have various drums at either side which get whacked in many drumly ways.

Crimson in tooth and claw, we disdain (pah!) all attempts to neatly categorise us.
Lugubrious lyrics sung sadistically over trouser trembling bass beats and relentless drums in the deep, all washed down with lashings of vivacious violin and orpheic oboe...

agree with ms V best not to mention steampunk it'll only confuse or put em off, if they like your music they'll come round to it no matter what you label it.

also put your self on the uk steampunk bands map if you have not allready done so

and good luck with your project and search for a drummer.

Thanks for the site suggestions, Jonny there are a few I haven't heard of there.

I like the idea of making use of other percussive possibilities - a combination of smaller percussion and backing track drum loops might be a better place to start.
