Unfortunately, as a secondary student, institutional regulations prevent me from growing either a beard or moustache. However, summer holidays commence in just over two weeks, giving me almost nine weeks of facial hair freedom. I intend to put this period to good use. What if you were doing it for charity? Tell them about Movember, a month-long moustache-growing charity event started in Adelaide to raise money for men's health issues. Movember is in full swing right now, but next year, you might be able to argue for a whole month of every year where the rules on facial hair are relaxed. [ LINK] Also, if your summer holiday starts at the beginning of December, I suppose that means you don't even have to shave it off after Movember...

I'll definately try and introduce Movember, thanks for the idea; we have plenty of people do the worlds greatest shave so it shouldn't be too hard. Unfortunately, I'd probably still have to shave for speech night

Doesn't always work; a bunch of girls in my year at school wanted to shave their heads for CanTeen (i.e. "Shave for a cure"), and the school threatened to expel them if they went through with it. They eventually got permission because they threatened to go to Today Tonight ("tabloid" news show) with it, which was quite a serious threat, because one of the girls had an uncle who worked for the show, so the story was guaranteed to be picked up.

I can't take credit for the effects done on this one. A gentleman on a beard forum made it look more late 1800's. And an un-edited and more recent picture!

If I were male, I would grow a mustache like this: Ah!! Eugene Hutz of Gogol Bordello!! I'm trying to achieve one like that but I've got a way to go yet (see photo on previous page)!! At their concerts last year you could buy t-shirts with Hutz's face on it and the legend 'This moustache kills Fascists'

My partner, The Countess Cyanide, dislikes facial hair of any kind and has told me she prefers me clean shaven. However she's generous enough to admit that it's my face and as such I can do whatever I like with it. Which is dashed decent of her I feel.

But I'm glad, that my master doesn't like wearing a moustache, anyway *gg* (And he is kind enough to keep his three-day beard neat)

My girlfriend says I am never to NOT have some form of facial hair, partly because without it I look like a twelve year old (which has actually gotten me in a spot of bother when buying a bottle of wine for a birthday) but mostly because she says I look really odd without something... Having said that I myself can't stand not having a moustache of some kind anyway, so it works out nicely ~Longeye~

I've been growing a mustache since early October and went home from uni for the Christmas holiday fully expecting to be asked a) what is that monstrosity above your lip, b) is it catching and c) can you remove it at once? So you can imagine my surprise when my parents actually told me that it suited me... I would go for a goatee too but as my 19 year old brother has one already that might be venturing too far into his territory...

Having been the proud owner of some form of facial hair or other since the age of 18, I am constantly flumoxed by the one question everybody asks me, "How long did it take to grow that?". The answer, I suspect, is somewhere between one second and 18 years.

Ahhhh, a topic dear to me heart! I'll throw myself back into things this way, I suppose (suffered a computer meltdown earlier) This picture is rather horrid but it illustrates what I've got going on here; Bonus points, This was taken on the way to a local group's exhibition of their restored 2-foot gauge German steam locomotive "Otto": http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/Jnetzlof/downsized_0919001346.jpgAND! On the plus side, with a flip of the hair, and a wardrobe change, it allows me to double as a 70's Detective/Porn Star! o.O Headed out to Ohayocon this weekend, I'll see if I can't get a better picture out there.

i have plaited it on occasion, but it had a tendency to curl, which as you can guess was rather annoying. think ill go back and give it another go now its longer. for when i want to get into character, ill plait in a strip of leather and hang something suitably steamy from the end. GG

I have a slightly irregular jawline so any facial hair would amplify that feature. Sometimes I forget to shave for a couple of days and I get a light brown, gingerish beard. I'm also have the hairline of a monk. So a couple of years ago I desided I was going to go bald on perpose. Close shave from head to neck (except eyebrows and lashes of course). It has it's disadvantages during winter time. My woolen tuque keeps sliding off when I'm freshly shaven, but it acts like velcro when I haven't shaven in a couple of days.
I like sideburns. Did you know, sideburns were invented by a man named Ambrose Burnside?
