so I saw a post in the newspaper today, in the classifieds section where the woman was looking for a man who was "clean shaven" because "personal hygene is a big deal to her". now I understand there are alot of men out there with pretty scuzzy beards but I for one took great offence to that listing. so what. because i have facial hair disqualifies me, what about all those clean shaven men who can't grow beards who still have horrible personal hygene. and what about those who do but keep themselves spotless... and most importantly what about me who can't shave due to the sheer monetary impracticability of it. i'm sorry if I would rather not spend more mone in a month than I currently spend in a year on shaving just to live up to your expectations.

yeah this is true, I have recieved a surprising amount of hate for my facial hair though. especially how quickly it grows. hell when I was working at mcdicks i was on the graveyard shift so we didn't get any breaks, every morning the head manager would open and complain about me having not shaved. even though I started at 11 and shaved every day at 9. so once I finally got sick of it, waited to shave till 11 went into work, shaved, then had the head night shift manager take a picture of me and sign it saying I had shaved at 11. that morning the head manager complained about the fact that my face grew hair over the span of 8 hours, I showed her the picture and was fired a week later.

When iI was at school I had good friend called Ray who was one of the hairiest people I've ever known. He was shaving at 13 and when he was in the second year of high school would shave before school and come 4pm had really heavy stubble. During the school summer holidays he stopped shaving and went back in September with a full beard that he'd grown over the six week break. Our first lesson was maths and the maths teacher sent him home to shave it off. He said he wasn't going to teach a pupil with a full beard! I think he was one of those men who simply couldn't grow anything decent and was jealous of Ray's impressive beard

Dammit, I came to this thread just to post that racist moustache story.
There was an older guy in my class from Pakistan. I was impressed when he shaved off his big bushy moustache, and it grew back in three days or so.

Thank you, good sir!
I like this Franz Josef thing better than the old goatee because it involves shaving only the white hairs while leaving the dark.

Not as of yet, however I have been doing the good Doctor's work, promoting him in my area as it were. Oklahoma has far too many "rednecks" and not near enough ponderers of what lies outside the proverbial box.

There are indeed a goodly number of rednecks in the area but also lots of lovely people in the mix! On another note, I just discovered this thread and I am so pleased! I do love good facial hair!

I have a rather nice Van Dyke myself. I'm trying to get my moustache to the point where I can wax it, but so far no luck.
Incidentally, does anyone have any tips on beard shaping? I'd like to train mine into the classical diabolical goatee, but I'm not sure how to control it that closely.

I posted this picture of myself on my gyrocopter, taken a few days ago, and Choreocrat suggested I place it in this thread...can't imagine why, but anyway, here it is... It is my "winter fur"...it will be removed as the weather becomes warmer...a sure sign of Spring. ~Thistlewaite
