I must be the only one who can't grow it on the bottom of my lip. Everything else comes in like a forrest.
But your facial hair is quite styled. I only wish I could come up with imaginative ways to style mine.

It's nto styled, more evolved.
I shave in the shower, working by touch. Which means I've often shaved off more on one side, which I've had to even out, etc.
It's led to an odd configuration which I found I rather like, so for now it stays.

I have a 'tache and goatee (See my avatar) , the goatee been quite closely shaven. It was my wife who persuaded me grow them. I was reluctant at first but now I have them I look 'wrong' when I shave them off. I think their is a point in every man's life when facial hair feels appropriate.
I have quite dark hair so my grey shows through quite readily. A spot of moustache dye does the trick or more recently I've started using black moustache wax to keep it neat and cover up the grey.
No sideburns or chops for me though I'm afraid. Damn hair just won't grow there, it all seems to be around my lips, chin and neck.

Ooh! That's a cracker!! Your are Snidely Whiplash and I claim my five pounds!
It irks me no end that I have a small patch on my right top lip where the hair is sparse and doesn't grow as thickly as on the opposite side. The left hand side of my 'tache is growing nicely and has reached the stage where I can tweak it into a nice curl (not up to the standard of yours. Algorythm..but it's getting there.) But the right hand side won't grow thick enough to match it. So when I twirl/tweek them there is an obvious 'symetrical inbalance'.

A major reduction in work-stress-levels ("I quit, m**********r" ) and an improvement in my diet (i.e., including things that did not end with "would you like fries with that?") made the situation disappear in about 2 months.

I recall that one of my sibs in the military had a hard time complying with the facial hair limitations in his service without having his mustache look like the Hitlerian version. I guess it took a lot of careful shaping and cutting.

It's thickened out a bit since, (and I can wax my tips again, hurrah!) and should be just about right come Whitby time! (Although, due to my natural blondness, it still looks a bit thin in pictures. I used to have some pretty awesome facial hair, if I do say so m'self. I sported a full beard for a good while there in high school, and then alternated between mutton chops and chin beards. I shaved for a play once, and I've not been able to grow anything back in since my job doesn't allow for it. Someday though....someday....

B7) can result in coarsening and thickening of hair in some people, at least. It's a popular supplement for women trying to grow stronger nails and longer, stronger hair, (I tend to laugh and call it "hoof and mane supplement"), and anecdotally at least you hear a lot of women complain that it affects their body hair too -- faster, thicker and darker growth. Good dietary sources are eggs, nuts, soybeans, brown rice, liver, and .... brewer's yeast. >_o I started growing my 'tache for the Asylum Convivial, but it was a bit sparse then! I really am going to have to figure out how to post photographs here.
As a child I had white hair which became brown which now no longer grows at all, (At least on top.) my beard oddly came in black. As I get older a good deal of the beard is now white, which I think looks awful so I tried Just For Men to darken up the mustache. I was less than impressed. For a Sci-Fi convention costume contest I tried Colorsilk red, clearly marked don't use on facial hair, it worked fine.

Nor am I new to the world of facial hair, having worn a beard more or less continually since I left highschool. For many years my beard of choice was a goatee that included the mustache. In later years I have decided that the mustache portion of the beard is an irritant to me for many reasons, and I went out in search of a new style, and settled upon the chin curtain. So yes I shave the upper portion of my face with a 1920's gillete safety razor. When I'm feeling particularly brave I break out the straight razor to keep practicing though I admit to not fully having the hang of it. My shaving gear. |

I love facial hair on men. My dad had a mustache or beard throughout my entire childhood; I've never seen him clean-shaven, except in pictures, and even then he had wonderful '70s sideburns.
At any rate, I too am delighted to see the variety of scruff here on Brass Goggles. Bravo!
