I have a slightly irregular jawline so any facial hair would amplify that feature. Sometimes I forget to shave for a couple of days and I get a light brown, gingerish beard. I'm also have the hairline of a monk. So a couple of years ago I desided I was going to go bald on perpose. Close shave from head to neck (except eyebrows and lashes of course). It has it's disadvantages during winter time. My woolen tuque keeps sliding off when I'm freshly shaven, but it acts like velcro when I haven't shaven in a couple of days.
I like sideburns. Did you know, sideburns were invented by a man named Ambrose Burnside?

The beard just keeps growing. And, of course, the always intriguing up-nostril shot. I must get some shots with the Executive Officer, or in my case, "She Who Must Be Obeyed."

What you think about beard styles without the mustasches? For example goatee without the mustasches is very common in art schools and other folks like that, but I have called once a leprechaun because of that style.

After learning to shave with a straight razor, I have come to the conclusion that the mustache in Victorian times was more a matter of practicality than fashion!!

Well done, Professor! Nice hirsute and a most handsome steam apparatus! What you think about beard styles without the mustasches? Sort of a similar post to my others but the moustache wax I swear by is Foad Wax which is a london based wax (Why do they all seem to come from London) but they ship world wide luckily by a moustache sporting make up artist. Their website is http://www.foadwax.com Once my camera is working i'll have to upload some pictures of my handlebars

I waxed my moustache for about a year about a decade ago, but it tickled the wife's nostrils and so I had to choose between kisses and the 'stash, so I trimmed things back. One must have priorities...

I've tried a mustasch a couple of weeks ago, but it didn't look right. My facial hair is brown/ginger/gray. It seems every single hair has it's own color. After not shaving for a week, I discided to go for a freddy mercury 'stash. The colorscheme plus the fact that my jawline is slightly unsymetrical, made me descide to lose the mustache. . . .. ... Also, TOWMBO didn't like it.

Just picked up one of these on eBay. I'll never use it (I already have a nice hedge clipper electric razor), but it'll hopefully serve as a reminder to keep my beard trimmed now that the weather is getting warmer.

That looks positively lethal!!! Looks like the sort of 'specialist weapon of choice' carried by psychos in hockey masks! Very impressive looking, beautifully designed but there's something about it that wouldn't make me want to put that anywhere near my throat!!

Ahhh, I no longer shave with a proper razor, I sadly got rid of mine a few years ago for various reasons I won't bore you with. However once you're adept with them, you'll never get a better shave (unless you have someone else do it).
These days I swear by my Kings of Shaves razor, it does the job nicely and the blades are on offer in Boots atm. I can't remember where I picked my last batch of moustache wax from. I know it was somewhere in Central London and I remember they also sold pipes, but to be honest it was just too long ago. I should buy some soon really, not that I have any great length needing taming, more for keeping the overall thing tidy. I had a look at the foadwax site, but as it doesn't comply with current UK e-commerce laws I'm more than reticent. I suspect I'll buy some wax next time I happen across something suitable in a shop. In the mean time I've been using a V05 styling wax, I think I go through a pot every couple of years or so and while not a stiff hold, it does seem to tame rogue hairs.

As a beardie of many years experience I have to say nowadays I prefer the shorter the better. It's virtually stubble at the moment, once it gets beyond half a cm (quarter inch, I should say, begging your pardons) it itches like it's full of busy insects. BTB, if anyone cares to glance in that excellent small volume by Messrs John Lloyd and Douglas Adams - The Meaning of Liff - you will find reference to the Scethrog: one of those beards without moustaches which makes one look like a gnome or a religious fundamentalist. Fair warning, I think.
