Hello All,
I just wanted to say that I'm very much enjoying the variety of mustaches & beards on the men of this forum. I like mustaches so much that I used to watch mustache competitions on German language TV. It was a treat to see some of the maestro mustache growers in person. This is just a lady appreciating the look of Steampunk gentlemen.

I second this statement. I'm not a big fan of facial hair (or any hair for that matter), but I do appreciate proper grooming.
Also, although my neighbor is not steampunk, I threatened to mug him and stuff him into a safari outfit and post his photo on this website. He has the best safari-Manchu mustache I've ever seen. Wish me luck.

Good luck, Maxine...that sounds like a photo I'd like to see.

P.S. I agree with you on the grooming aspect....well groomed men are much more appealing.

ah, unfortunately i was the least groomed man you could ever meet, (thought i inexplicably seem to attract very well groomed ladies). Fortunately, however, this forum has brought to my attention my own failings in this department and i am making an effort. My recent attempt at more gentlemanly attire caused my love to respond most favourably, for which i thank you all

It's a bit of a pity my husband is not a great Steampunk type person as he is currently sporting quite the beard these last few years. (He rather more looks like a biker most days, it's of such a length.) Last week I dove in and tried a recipe for some mustache wax to help him tame his mustache more so it can finally grow out enough to be braided in with the rest of his beard. I surprised him with the fruits of my labor, and after some trial and error, it's working quite nicely, I'm pleased to announce. The Handlebar Club has some mad facial hair going on there, I must proclaim. It's quite entertaining to peruse their gallery. Or, as in my husband's case, inspiring.

I worked for a while with a guy who had long hair, a broad mustache and a bit on the chin as well which made him look like a musketeer. It looked quite cool. I also once worked with a guy called D'Artagnan but he looked nothing like a musketeer.

I'm not a huge fan of most mustaches, but I do enjoy the wilder ones of this period, and get a chuckle out of the German contests. I've occasionally grown various things on my face and head, but mostly as amusement and they never last long.
Right now, I am cultivating some chops, but we'll see how long they last. I promise to take a picture - now if it would only grow faster.

Dear Maxine,
Ironically, with my love of facial hair & long hair on men, my husband is resolutely clean-shaven & short-haired. However, he's such a gem that a lot of women ask if he has any unattached brothers.

P.S. You don't mind me omitting the "Mad" do you? If you do, please let me know.

Apologies for the poor photo quality, but this is me at work today. The 'stache is finally getting to the point where it will stay in shape all day, so I trimmed my beard & 'burns to match. I thought it looked rather dashing, & my wife is starting to agree...

I could no longer resist, after looking at an older thread and realizing that my facial hair is older than most of the posters on this forum

I will have to get a picture of my beard. At the moment it is rather unruly. A coworker and I are secretly having a competition to see who can go the longest before our wives make us trim it.

I currently have a two-week old mustache. I'm not used to having one, as I'm normally clean shaven. I keep brushing with my fingers all the time, it feels so weird. I don't think I could quite take myself seriously with a waxed mustache 'though (not that the Navy would let me have one).

I thought it looked rather dashing, & my wife is starting to agree... My young man's beard and moustache were much like that about a year ago. His beard is now somewhat longer, and trimmed so it's pointed (which suits his face particularly well). In the past couple of weeks, though, the ends of his moustache have gotten so long that they curl entirely back on themselves, which amuses me terribly. They're actually long enough to do a very good imitation of Dali's moustache... which I think is the reason he doesn't trim them XD Btb, he usually doesn't use wax, unless it is being particularly ill-behaved. It seems to have grown into shape, through being played with constantly.

I am inspired! though i have but 2 days to produce a suitably fine style, and my growth is neither long enough nor dark enough to create something in any way gentlemanly. ah to shave or fight on through... times rushes upon me, leaving only a little moment to decide.

Its only at the early stages right now though :/

I guess this seems like a good time and place to post a picture of me as I'm growing quite fond of my own mustache. Not exactly the best of pictures but it will have to do. <img src=" http://www.ducttapeguy.net/stache.JPG"> I've been keeping it trimmed around this length for ease of care but am thinking about letting it get longer.
