The Scottish Mining Museum in Newtongrange midlothian is holding a ghost tour.

For those who have never been to the museum, they have a beautiful power house and winding room most becoming of any steampunk event. there is a regular bus service from Edinburgh that stops  very close by.

The ghost tour is led by to Victorian clad workers.

here is their blurb....

An evening tour of the Lady Vic with Aggie McGhee and Mungo Mackay.  Find out about the spectres and shadows that haunt the mine - the stories of the spirits that refuse to move on into the afterlife.  Hear the chilling tale of the headless miner, Joke Kane and listen out for Dode Donnelly's squeals of terror coming from the deepest shaft to be sunk in Scotland!

A fantastic evening of chills and thrills, not to be missed! Tickets are limited so call now of 0131 663 7519 or purchase direct from the museum reception.  Tours last approx 1hour and 15 minutes and are followed by a glass of wine and ghost stories in the coffee shop, all included in the ticket price of £10 per head.

here is their link ( I hope)

would anyone care to meet up??? I'm going to be going either way but would be nice to make a thing of it and dress up.

I would like to add that they do regular tours and will take group bookings at a reduced rate. they have a fine tearoom and gift shop so if the ghost tour is not suitable for folks then perhaps I could arrange to get us on a nice group tour?
but I need 12 people minimum for the reduced rates (£6.50 per adult). any number at full price which is a mere £7.50 per adult.

Ohhh if only we lived near you, I'd love to do something like this, they have ghostly goings on at Derby Gaol and around Leicester but I'd feellike a right muppet going on my own and screaming like a big girls blouse.

Bumping this up again in the vain hope at least one other scottish member will consider attending....

I have never worn steampunk attire out and about as yet and am too nervous to go it alone. will be forced to wear "Normal" cloths lol

they have a wonderful large free carpark right at the door of the building.. the tour guides will be in costume and telling us spooky tales.

its only a 20 minute drive from Edinburgh. 40 minute bus trip. the Hawick/galashiels bus also passes through.

there is no gin but there is wine.....
