only a week to go! we're praying the weather settles down some what, but either way we should still have a jolly good time.
Regarding camping, etc -we have just discovered an alternative to camping/B+Bs- wooden wigwams! reasonabley priced and only 1.2 miles out of Chepstow!

Good point.

I wasn't at WotW last year, and don't know the town. A group of us Bournemouth steampunks are staying in the middle of town (at the George Hotel). What is the walk like down to the venue (how steep and is it cobbles or proper footpath)? Its not a problem for me, but two of the ladies in our group have a penchant for heels!

It's approx 8 minute walk down through the town to the Riverside Gardens and Drill Hall and is good pavements, so you are fine!
if you're looking for a good place to eat on an evening, i would suggest the Coach and Horses which is on Welsh Street. They do really good pub grub, very good prices and always veggie options Cheesy (And they have Hendricks behind the bar!)

Not long to go now and getting quite excited! Depending on the weather I may or may not make the summery outfit(s) I had planned for Whitby. If weather is set for foul then it's recycling of old outfits I'm afraid! Entertainment looks great ... looking forward to it

There is a "Steep Street" at the top of Chepstow!

Seriously, Chepstow is built on a series of hills. For those who don't know the town, come prepared for slopes. We do have small pieces of flat ground, but they are few and far between. There are also some cobbled streets, but not many - although the tarmac is quite patchy in places. Boots are a better choice than stiletto heels!

A quick question - what time does event control close on Friday evening, please?

We're not likely to hit Chepstow until 7pm-ish, so by the time we've checked into the hotel, etc, we'll be getting to the Drill Hall for about 8pm-ish.

eep, the actual magic show starts at 7.30pm , so the faster you can get here the better (i'm not sure how the magicians feel about late admissions) but hopefully we can sneak you in at the back.
you'll still be able to pick up your wristbands though, no prob

We have just returned from the Waltz on the Wye.

Our first time at such an event.  Can I say thanks to everyone involved;  we had a tremendous time talking to people and seeing things.  Everyone was ever so friendly and the efforts that people have gone to inhabit their persona's and the attention to detail really was breathtaking.  We had a great time and it really gave us both inspiration and food for thought.

I know that these events just do not happen, and that a significant amount of work goes on in the background for months beforehand and after the event has finished, so I'd really like to say a big thank you to the organisers and everyone who gave talks and contributed to the event.

Absolutely brill!

Had an amazing time again, even though I was so tired to start with. Thanks to Rachel and Andy for another wonderful festival. On a different note: could everybody allow their photos from the weekend for public viewing, so we all can see them? That would be incredibly nice!  Smiley Smiley

And it was fantastic to run into Tails again - we were at Uni together when he was "Tails" because of the tailcoat.

Another fantastic time Waltzing on the Wye. Old friends, new friends, brilliant entertainment and a super setting: who could ask for more? We are now absolutely knackered jolly tired, but very happy and still smiling when thinking about the Waltz.

The Memsahib and I would like to thank everyone for a really, really fun weekend, especially Rachel, Andy and the rest of the crew who made it happen.
