So last year, there was quite a spectacular steampunk pantomime, 'Mandrakes magnificent machine'. does anyone know of anything similar happening this Winter?

If any of our Scottish members over the age of, say, 30 remember as a child going to see Jack and The Beanstalk at the Eden Court Theatre, Inverness (starring Jimmy Logan and Lesley Mackie) in 1983 I'd just like to point out that I was the back end of Daisy the Cow...oh the glamour of treading the boards, luvvie!

The Cottonopolis Coglective will hopefully be making a jaunt to see the new Sherlock Holmes film. Not quite the same but still very pretty.

The most substantial group of steampunks gathering during the panto period will be at the Holiday Inn Corby for New Year, but there isn't even a suitable panto on then in the area, steampunk or not.
I am minded that a Doctor Moreau Puss in Boots hybrid might work. Just reset to Victorian London.

Capital idea! Are you writing this one, sir...? (if not I may have a chat with Arkwright about a collaboration...)

There are a number of scripts available online, which can be purchased, and it would be possible to adapt this.
Arkwright is probably best suited for this, as a writer and director and I would be happy to play a role. Perhaps those of us not in The Music Hall can return the favour with our own performance?
I understand we have a larger room this year, the hotel probably has a small staging set up, and maybe some lighting. We can scrounge up props, as for costumes well that shouldn't be a problem can use the music system from the Music Hall. We would need a rehearsal, but its panto! We are allowed to be bad! We would have a prompter.
we could even video it for posterity?

We would also need to inform the Major of our plans, and haul this over to the New Years Eve thread.

If you do decide to go to Corby for New Year then the closest theatre with a pantomime if the Royal Theatre in Northampton and as a very Victorian theatre it would fit. http://www.royalandderngate.co.uk/en/Home/en/Home/WhatsOn/AliceinWonderlandAlternatively you can stay in Corby and go to their theatre to see Dick Whittington: Corby Amateur Theatrical Society Dick Whittington and his cat Tommy stride into Corby this Christmas for a pantomime adventure paved in gold, packed with comedy capers and polished off with all the winning ingredients Corby Amateur Theatrical Society’s audiences have come to expect. Alongside Dick and Tommy are a host of colourful characters to entertain and enthral, not least the ducking, diving and conniving King Rat! Don’t miss out on another sparkling pantomime from CATS. Thu, Fri & Sun 7pm Sat, Sun & Mon 2pm Tickets £10 Concessions £8

Personally, I would rather see us do our own, much like a mummers play, minimal props needed...anyone want to write one? That would be a good addition to the 'soiree' evening at new year!

Not exactly panto, but I wander if there's plans afoot for MUGGS to repeat the success of their steampunk'd "Pirates of Penzance" with another Gilbert & Sullivan offering?
Doctor Quack! Yoo-hoo, DR QUACK!

We were discussing the same thing earlier in the thread - I've mentioned in passing to Arkwright, but have not mentioned to Maj Tinker yet either. If he (and Arthur) are agreeable, maybe some form of joint effort could be on the cards
