The only time I've travelled on public transport in full SP attire (as opposed to my daily semi-steam look) on my way to a TMTWNBBFN gig, I was left well alone.

Whether this was anything to do with appearing a little Bill Sykes looking & carrying a cane with a large brass griffin head handle is unknown.  Certainly got some odd looks though.

I don't often use public transport, but there have been a couple of events in London where we've used the train to get around. I don't recall any negative comments, although we do get plenty of odd looks and you often catch people trying to surreptitiously take pictures.

When people ask "Why are you dressed like that?" I always look mildly surprised and reply "Dressed like what...?"  Grin

...don't be.
Personally, I've been wearing medieval clothing in public (nearly full time) for years now.  I get looks, and occasional comments (usually from college age guys), and the occasional photograph.
I love the "Where are you from?" "I was born here.", "What are you wearing?" "Clothing.".
Currently, I'm wearing a frock coat and deerstalker--not nearly as many funny looks (although Sherlock comments abound among my friends).

Splendid, is as much a state of mind as a state of dress.
Splendid, does not apologetically shuffle around.
Splendid, smiles genteelly in the face of adversity and greater odds.
Splendid is splendid no matter what.

Don't be Streampunk, be Splendid. Let other people name it if they must.
