That looks fun, wonder if they want any traders? Is that the bank holiday weekend?

would be nice if they did a bit more promotion (say on BG or the British Steampunk Community/Facebook) to let us know more about their do , such as whether it's just music or other stuff too
this may also be a wrong assumption, but it also feels a bit commercial so far such as the decscription as 'Steampunk' Festival and no other name to it! i like to think that things organised by and for steampunks has a bit of love in it -such as shown by the Asylum, Wotw, The Oxford and Kew exhibtions, etc
hope it turns out to be good though, as that's one helluva line up so far!

The Brass Pound is VERY attractive. However such events will be attractive to the mainstream crowd, and will get them into other aspects of the scene.

There seems to be very little information on it...interesting but more definitive information is needed! Is it just a music thing? That would seem odd as we as a genre have never defined ourselves through music alone, in fact music is something that is not a leading part of the genre (not that the line up isn't good!)

They are live music promoters, not organizers of steampunk events, so no one should go with the allusion that this is another Waltz or Asylum. Treat this like a rock Festival, music only and band merchandise only. It does help the profile of the bands, and of steampunk music generally, but a lot of the people there will be there for the music and not the steampunk.
Doubtless without The Asylum or Waltz something this ambitious would not have been considered in the. first place. We provided a platform for most of these bands in the first place. It would interesting to see this added to the summer rock festival rota and I believe there is no Glastonbury next year (because of the Olympics), so this has a reasonable shot of gaining mainstream appreciation for SP music.

It does sound like there is a burlesque element to it, maybe they have 2 stages? I agree that is sound more like a music festival than a steampunk event as such.

Ghostfire were contacted by the company behind this a month ago, asking for our availability. We said we'd like to get involved but have heard nothing since. It was presented as a two day festival, no more info than that.
My personal feeling is that it will probably expand to include steampunk traders, since there appears to be a fair bit of site space to fill, but this is only speculation.
It's early days so I think we should all keep an open mind and see how things progress. Music festivals are actually pretty good fun since there's always more than music to occupy one's time.

That is the Bank Holiday weekend. Definitely has the sound of a music festival about it. No bad thing... we'll most likely be at our regular one, Beautiful Days, down in Devon, the previous weekend and it would give us a reason to escape Reading while the Reading Festival is on . Some indication as to size would be good though... the venue's website mentions a 'large function room, capacity 100' (though that could be for a sit-down do, rather than a gig) This (from the info given so far) actually sounds rather like an event Evangeline and I have attended occasionally, the Blyth Power Ashes, a mini-festival put on by the folky-punk band Blyth Power, where they take over a big pub and garden for a weekend (co-incidentally also the August BHol weekend!), set up a stage and have a bunch of their mates' bands playing, with folk camping in the pub garden. Will be keeping an eye on this...

Still going strong, (very) occasionally gigging, plus the annual Ashes festival/cricket match.
