A very pretty book cover design by John Coulthart - would make a nice desktop.

Thought I would throw my latest desktop background into the fray...
It looks pretty good with a dark aero skin
Its not quite complete, but here is the file 1600x1200 if you want it:

That's a great background/wallpaper,which would make a good iGoogle theme as well.

You know I was considering trying my hand at an iGoogle theme. I have not looked into how they are created yet...

Thanks, the folder just contains some plans and timelines for some different projects of mine. But naming it random project plans was too boring.

Thanks for introducing me to the spoiler tag too! I think that will be a much better option for my next way to large image. I didn't realize it was in the options.

My desktop now changes every five minutes, fading into a new image from a list of three. Thank you, Windows Seven beta.

And I must say, the effect is rather nice... two images being fairly similar, and all of them have cogs and stuff on.

Screenshots in a spoiler.

It may be converting it into a bmp file, most likely if you're using the "set as desktop image" menu whatsit in a web browser.

Hey guys-

Thanks to my persistent insomnia and consequent late night boredom, last night I decided to rip and mix random steampunk sound clips from Miyazaki's Howl's Moving Castle and replace my windows default startup/shutdown/alert/etc. wav. files with the following (mixed -by me- on audacity, uploaded on esnips). They aren't perfect, as I didn't spend all that long on them, but I'm kind of enjoying the hell out of them so I figured I'd share.

http://www.esnips.com/doc/6c2f2d27-c66a-4093-bc34-f11d76bcb938/Steam

I'm partial to the softer sort of steampunk aesthetic, with a more feminine, Victorian emphasis. Here's my desktop with my personalized icons, and my winamp in the bottom right corner (timepiece skin):

And here's my firefox browser, with my current Persona skin:

I got a bunch of mine here:
http://www.iconarchive.com/category/culture/old-school-icons-by-babasse.html

Download them as .ico files-- then edit the properties on any shortcut on your desktop, and there should be a tab that says, "change icon."

Yeah, they give me the same kind of silly joy I get from hearing steam-puffing noises coming from my PC, instead of any "pings" or alert noises.

Actually, if you have Windows XP and browse the media for your default sounds, there's a set called "WinDavinci" and one called WinAquarium or something that both have simpler gear-cranking/steam-blowing type sounds that totally work to replace all those small, silly computer-y sounding noises. My computer makes virtually no electronic sounding noises anymore, haha, and I don't find these new ones any more annoying than the pre-existing sound settings, honestly.

Geez, I really need to sleep more...

Hmm, I know they used to have a download button, but I guess they don't any more-- so if you mean in general, I don't know what to tell you, I.. guess you can't.

If you wanted any of these for whatever reason, though, I uploaded them to 4shared, which should work.
