Ladies and Gentlemen and all between! What a year it has been, but the 2011 Asylum sure has snuck up on us! [Or at least it has with me, I just don't want to be alone...] So I am Rebooting the Lift Share thread, last year had one, started by the excelent Dr. GreenSteam This thread is for anyone looking for a liftshare from anywhere in the UK to the Lincoln Asylum Convivium event in September 2010 2011.
If you are planning to drive a car, minibus, coach or whatever and need extra passengers to share the costs
or
If you are looking for a lift from somewhere and willing to be a considerate passenger in someone else's vehicle and share costs
Leave a post here with your STARTING point in the heading line. Usual rules, no private phone numbers or emails out in the open, thats what PMs are for. if you are using one of the online liftshare sites, tell people so they can go there too.
Cars are not necessarily bad things, even for a committed green like me! Sensible use with full occupancy can make sense.

Hi all you wonderful Steampunks - We are going from Bristol sometime in the morning of Friday, our journey will be relaxed, with lunchbreak and such. There might be room for one + luggage. Maybe. We have to see how much we are taking with us , but if somebody needs a lift we bunch up - though we are going back Sunday afternoon (shortly after lunch).

I'm driving up from the south coast (Poole/Bournemouth) on Friday, returning Monday. Room for one passenger (two if they only have light baggage) in return for a contribution towards petrol. I'm aiming for a leisurely drive, to arrive mid to late afternoon in Lincoln.
Route options are open to discussion, but will consider any of the following before heading for M1:
head towards London (M3 then M25, or cut up to M4)
or Oxford ring road (A34 then M40)
My only caveat is that I need to pick passenger(s) up from somewhere obvious and easy to get to , as I don't have sat nav!!!

I'm looking for one lift each way, going Thursday and returning on Monday, ideally from West Sussex but practically, anywhere along train lines between Worthing and Lincoln would save me something which I'll gladly share. Alternatively, meeting up with fellow train travellers would lighten the journey.

I'm intending on travelling to Lincoln from Birmingham by train. I haven't sorted my train tickets yet - on my 'must sort out SOON!' list - but if anyone else is travelling by train from Brum, perhaps we could coordinate travelling together?

Going from Exeter to Lincoln on Friday, returning on the Monday. I can dip into Bristol if it helps (also passing Gloucester,Leicester)...I will have two spaces, maybe three in my car.
Happy to have company in the car!

I plan to be headig up to Lincoln fairly early on Friday morning, from Colchester in Essex. Plenty of space in the car. Just did a quick Google, and my projected route takes me through, or close by, Ipswich, Stowmarket, Bury st Edmonds, Cambridge, Huntingdon, past Peterborough, Stamford, Grantham, and Newark-on-Trent, am happy to offer a lift in return for a small contribution towards fuel, and good company.

Where is he based? As for accommodatiion, he should look at the recent posts on the Asylum thread regarding cheap 'conference' rooms suddenly being available at the uni.
