Poll
Question: If we decide that Halloween is an option for fun at the park, do we want to offer ourselves to the park for publicity purposes in return for benefits (to be arranged once the poll is closed)
Yes, benefits are good and I'd like to be included in AT's publicity
No, there are enough benefits for reduced price entry in place already we can go and just relax.
I have no preference either way and am happy to go with the flow. (in which case why are you voting in the first place?)

As I said before, if we do want to see if we can get some sort of deal going, it would have to be a reciprocal arrangement. In effect we would be working for them in return for getting free entry to the park (or accommodation or whatever).

To be honest with you. I can do one of two things, I can organise something for us for Halloween as a personal group thing or i can look at seeing if we can get some benefits for us and in return pimping offering us for photo opportunities on and around the rides and park. The latter means that we would be pretty much AT's bitches and wouldn't get nearly enough time to do the things that we want to do in the park itself although we could be used in publicity for the park in the future so there is an upside. The former means that we have a one or a couple of days of rides and fun being with friends and generally yukking it up.

That's my honest opinion. I can't put it plainer than that. I have my own opinion on the matter, but i will leave it up to everyone else to let me know their thoughts. I can go down the route of seeing if I can get some sort of deal (and if I do, I will try and negotiate as hard as possible so that we get as much enjoyment out of the experience as we possibly can) or not (at which point we use the BOGOF offer, take advantage of the reduced entry to splash landings the next day and see if I can get a reasonably priced hotel in the area).

The choice is yours.

The thread now comes with added poll!!! Vote and we'll go with the consensus. You know democracy makes sense as long as it is ruled with an iron fist  Grin

My thoughts on the matter are this;

With vouchers we can get in for around £20 each and our day is our own.
The £20 entry fee is probably the cheapest item on my expenses after taking a day off work, petrol, new hat etc – so I wouldn't be that bothered about cheaper entry.

If we did some sort of deal, what would AT offer, and what would we have to do in return?

I can think of just two things that would interest me.
1) free/discounted accommodation in AT hotels if we do two days.
2) fast track entry to rides.

I've just checked – a hotel room is (approx) £140 per couple.
They often seem to do deal for £99, and a corporate booking is £80(whatever that means).
With a group booking, in advance, we might be able to get a decent(ish) discount on hotel rooms anyway.
A discount on hotel rooms might make a 2 day event more accessible for some of our friends with less liquid assets than others.

If the 'deal' involves some sort of situation where they want to fill an entire coaster with steampunks and take photos then it could be great fun – although someone else can do the log flume this time.

Sorry, that's all a bit vague isn't it.

In summary.
If they offer a decent deal I'm interested.

I want to be a sleepy weasel! Smiley

Generally I'd prefer not to be in publicity shots unless hidden in the back behind someone tall, so I'd be pretty useless to A T.  I enjoyed the format of Tuesday, and think pressures of publicity would spoil the relaxing atmosphere of the day.

captain, please enter this into the film competition at the asylum

There's a film competition at The Asylum? I must have missed that, somehow...  Huh

I'll certainly take it into consideration.

Ah well, that's that then. Producing a DVD is no problem, but I don't think I can sensibly get it down to 10 mins.

Are we actually elidgible for the cheap second day entry when using vouchers?

I'll be interested to hear what AT can offer regarding two days plus accomodation. But I don't want to be a gimmick for them, I want to enjoy a day out with my friends.

The majority of us are not adverse to camping and the little site we stayed at could be ideal. They can accomodate 5 caravans and 30 tents. Camping is £4ppn.

You will have to count us out for Oct. What with Asylum, Whitby and other events, it's just not feasible.

I'll make an executive decision right now and state categorically that if there is something happening during October, we will not be camping.

I think I'm rarther with Rob on this one.
I suppose when I made the suggestion that we could see what they'd offer I was thinking for photographic oportunites or perhaps a little steampunk pop-up exhibtion (as a punkinck with some bits of gadgetry around and ourselves in splendid dress).
As well as providing AT with an unusual event, I thought this might offer us an opppurtunity and suitable surroundings to talk about steampunk with the other punters as alot of them were interested and I felt myself giving them somthing of a brush off as it is a complexe answer

GOD'S TURBAN AND TUTU! Bloody well missed it  Sad  I would soooooooooooooooooooooooo love to come, last time I did Alton Towers (15yrs ago at least) I followed the example of Fitz Hugh Ludlow*  Grin had a blast and even the queueing was a pleasant experience. Alas with the arrival of coglets all the experimentation has ceased.
