I did notice the distinctly Napoleonic flavor of that world, but I was distracted by the existence of a Sontaran nurse!  Wink

Something about that scene at the Battle of Zarathustra, the one where the guy is running in a longcoat while shooting, made me think of a certain scene from a certain SF series that got cancelled after one series, but was later made into a film... did anyone else think that?

I'd really want that guys coat.

I was a bit confused though. Were the Sontarans the ones attacking, or  there to help the humans?

I got the impression it was sort of a civil war of sorts between humans on the planet.  That one Sontaran was just there to do penance, likely being punished by The Doctor.

That would make sense, except for the officer in questions "Madam President we have to go. Those things could be here any second." comment.

Hmm, maybe the Rutans were invading?

I thought it was humans vs Sontarans with a nurse just being a nurse and treating the wounded, maybe?
