I wish I could prop my legs up on an ottoman and wrap an afghan around my shoulders, sadly there is no ottoman in my house and the afghan is upstairs somewhere.

If there isn't any life on other planets, could it just be that we are banned from making contact. After all, we are a violent species and we just do not play well with others.

I think this MUCH more likely! We seem like the kind of race who would be kept in isolation. The question is, how do you put an entire race in a straight jacket?

How far is all the way, and then if it stops, what's stopping it, and what's behind what's stopping it? So, what's the end, you know, is my question to you."

Easy!
You leave them on this little tin-pot world in the middle of nowhere! Nobody then can hurt! It's for their own good!
But it's also missing the vital materials to build warp-cores so they can't go anywhere they're not supposed to.

There's a Calvin and Hobbes strip wher they observe the mess and litter left behind in a natural beauty spot and Calvin states that "The fact we've never been visited by aliens is a sure sign of intelligent life in space"

I am tired of Nikolai's (my six year old) latest favorite joke.... "Guess what?        Chicken butt ". Of course he substitutes other descriptions for chicken, but it's still the same joke!

A thread on another forum, actually a "ragequit" thread, has hit over 1000 posts and has spawned a second part. The person who started the thread just to publicize his quitting the forum is long gone, hasn't been seen in almost three weeks, but the whole community has joined in to poke fun at immaturity and laugh at stereotypes. Its great fun. And utterly random to mention on here. Which is why I brought it up.

I submit that with reference to the InterWeb (which I realize you are NOT referring to), "Troll" is a verb, and is a method of angling.

Aye, slowly plodding along the lake surface-they've even got a special motor for it.

I thought you meant there were trolls to be found here upon our nice, clean, troll-free, user friendly site.  I was going to hunt them down, and bludgeon them with my infallible logic, alcohol fueled wit, and common decency!

Eh, oh well.

So, anyone else surprised the Packers didna make the Big Bowl?

guilty

I would love to start up on politics, but thats real taboo, and would be hard with the International flavour, which I relish.

I do love to stir the pot, though, and I'm not much of a steampunk, though it intrigues me

Don't say that TOO loudly around-may come back to haunt you.  I myself may not dress the part every day, nor really MAKE much-but I AM very much a steampunk.  At least by my reckoning of the movement.  And that's really all that matters!

I was really sad the Saints got spanked by SF.  Then again, I don't much care for AMERICAN Football anyway!

Best of luck on the trolling!  Er...  Shopping!

Aye, I'm with you on being steampunk Xenos. Its more than a wardrobe and some brass bits.

As for American football, well I haven't watched a full NFL game in a LONG time, but college football has become on of my loves.

See, with me, I'm very neatly a cross between Steam and Diesel punks.  Why?  Because I like the clothes and the retro-future tech of Steampunk, but much prefer the architectural lines offered in Dieselpunk, because I f***ing LOVE Art Deco!!!

Also, time for a threadjack:

AT&T offers two smartphones, unlimited talk, no text, and some web for $160 a month.  Verizon offers the EXACT SAME PLAN, down to the PHONES selected (iPhone 4S), and it's $190.

I'm HOPING that Walmart Family Mobile (my current provider) can offer an upgrade to an iPhone.  Aye, it'd be an extra...  $30-40 a month, but in today's age, a smartphone is pretty much required.

I'll give you my standard response: Go Sprint. We've used them for years and love them.

See, now, I come from a place that back when there were these weird, strange things that hung on your wall and had a cord on 'em, Sprint was the local monopoly.

They...  Well, long story short, they charged several customers in our county outrageous fees one month for supposed phonecalls that they had no logs of, no proof of, and no ANYTHING to base the charges on, other than their own imaginations.

If that's not enough, back when I tried using their wireless web service (back when you used one of those cards that had a special slot on your laptop), they f***ed me right royal, DRY.  I mean, we're talking did me DIRTY.

So.

Sprint and me are alot like Niska and Mal.  Not so solid.

Interestingly enough, just got off the horn with Wally-World's Family Mobile.  I can get smartphones on THEIR service for a whole $10 more than I'm paying right now!

Downside?  No iPhones.  At all.  Even jailbroke ones.  Won't do picture and/or data if I use 'em.  SO.  $650 Paperweight, basically.
