Hello, I am not a long time lurker, and I'm rather new at this.

Well not in forums and whatnot, but Steampunk. I've always been fascinated and talking to those who have put time and effort to put together an ensamble of rather good looking clothing, brass, and well made props made me think back to the time where I heartily reread every Jules Verne story I can get my grummy 2nd grader hands on.

So I'm making my little lite steps into the world. And frankly, I would at least admit that the general setting of the anime "Last Exile" really got me into realizing this is a hobby (at the very least) I can get into.

That said I was fantasizing of putting together a costume (and I have read the opinions on that in the previous introduction thread) of a somewhat period-correct Marine, although with it comes a rather ambitious prop project involving an external frame backpack, ALICE LBEs, some sort of device that can generate steam or fog, and Nerf rifles. I can blame Last Exile for wanting to make a prop that is more or less, a steam powered rifle. ._.;;

I get ahead of myself. I throw caution into the wind and I make my entrance into your lovely world. ^^

Welcome to the foum, and indeed to our own 'little world'  Smiley

Persons intending to travel by open carriage should select a seat with their backs to the engine, by which means they will avoid the ashes emitted therefrom, that in travelling generally, but particularly through the tunnels, prove a great annoyance; the carriage farthest from the engine will in consequence be found the most desirable.

Hmph.

There is no "correctly." There is only "do."

Harrumph! Tongue

Welcome to Brass Goggles, Jusuchin, and to the wide, weird world of Steampunk. You have a long and (hopefully) enjoyable journey ahead of you, and we look forward to seeing your personal interpretation of this world.

Thanks for the warm welcome. And I honestly think I want to somehow flavor this world less in Victorian England, but Imperial America. Yes it happened, my native land was an American colony and I believe it benefited greatly as much as it did with the Spanish...

Well, except for those years where we had an insurgency, but still.

And I also am interested in aeronef. I find the idea of flying battleships fantastical and amazing. I signed on because I have this burning desire to well, get clothes that'll look good anywhere I go, ('contemporary' fashion is bland and frankly is not unique to me anymore), but also I want to...I don't know. I just want to make something that is nice and unique. And also it's beautiful in its own sort of way.
